Euro final policing a success!

The deputy assistant police commissioner Jane Connors has denied the final on Sunday was a police failure, even though thousands broke in to wembley, people who had paid for a seat were forced to sit 70 a bench made for 40, ticketless fans were standing in the isles, and England fans with and without tickets fought each other inside all through the game. This, with a pitch invader during the game, England captain Harry Maguires father suffering two suspected broken ribs after being trampled on, and bottles being thrown throughout the day outside the stadium towards families and other fans. If this behaviour means a behind closed doors punishment or losing the 2030 world cup, then so be it! If this is a police success, with 85 arrests to boot, then what is failure? Obviously the Wembley stadium stewardship is also at fault, and uefa for agreeing the terms no doubt, but it might have been better for the assistant Jane to say nothing, as a non failure it wasn"t!Anybody fancy taking their gran kids or kids to the next big England game, knowing the standard the police think is a good days work?

Exactly an FA spokesman said they had enough security staff and it was fine apart from the illegal actions of some fans.

I bit like saying my cruise ship was wonderful apart from the iceberg.

Actually policing has been such a success under Dame Cressida she wants another 4 more years as Met Chief.

I can hear the chants now "4 more years, 4 more years" (from the terrorists, drug gangs, and general yobs)

We are witnessing a pissing contest between the FA and the Police. In terms of what happened at Wembley, then the police are not in charge of the security. That is down to whoever runs Wembley. The police would give the game a category, which I believe was a 'C' but given that there was no real risk of serious disorder between Italian and English fans, then I believe there is no higher level.

Where the Met are at fault is in how both Trafalgar and Leicester squares descended into nightmares. According to a mate in the Met, and who works within the wider command structure, they lost control of both places by 2pm.

You want to slate the Met, forget the Stadium. They are just another level of security and are ultimately deployed as part of a wider plan organised by Wembley itself. It's the streets of London that need the scrutiny.

We get these defensive often desperate excuses quite often, another recently was the head of the army in describing the UKs ignominious withdrawal from Afghanistan.

'We didn't actually get defeated on the battlefield'.

Sir Nick Carter, thank you for that.

Police totally in denial on this one.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

UK forces sent in by warmonger Blair.

Empathy with the families of the over 400 service personnel who died might be better placed than a shallow dig.

Suggesting the withdrawal is humiliating, shameful, or disgraceful shows a total lack of any awareness of what the events were leading up to this.

We should never have been there to satisfy Blair's ego, but the actions of our service men and women were not shameful, humiliating or disgraceful.

Buck passing of the highest order.
When will people/organisations learn to take responsibility for their mistakes?
If they did then everyone could move on and learn from them but with this going on it is pointless.
They are pathetic cowards of the worst kind.

Exactly, from the gov.uk down! Nobody taking responsibility for anything or even answering a question about taking responsibility will filter down, and down, its a race to the bottom! But, alas, at least we have democracy!

Honesty is the best policy - these old sayings still hold true.
They need to get together and admit that between them they royally cocked it up and then find a way to stop it next time.
Water canon seems a good idea to me - I believe we still have some Boris ones hanging around!
In their defence of course - why should they have to put with mindless scum disobeying the rules?
I know people who were there who said it was very scary indeed at times and that is so wrong.
