What do you guys think? There was plenty of time to bring someone in, they knew even before the opening of the window that the position was not well covered.

Are they right in trusting Ward and Kelly? Ward seems nothing special to me, I think there are many better right backs than him. And Kelly is no right back, he's a center back forced to play there.
Seems to me like the most troubled position in the team.

Allardyce wanted Jenkinson, he obviously wants to play 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 and Ward is no wing-back really. It looks like Jenkinson's wage demands were too high in a position where we have ok cover right now. If we had got Jenkinson then I doubt we would have seen Sakho, we would have probably got Caceres instead. It's all about priority; the left side was a greater priority. Having seen McArthur essentially play left-wing on Tuesday, I wouldn't be surprised if he was also tried at RWB if Ward doesn't offer enough.

What would you have preferred: Sakho on a non-committal loan deal or Caceres (injury prone) and Jenkinson on sizable contracts?

RB wasn't a major priority imo. Ward and Kelly can do a job, although Ward, for me, is a better attacking full back than Kelly.

Surely we got the players in order of priority with the left side shored up and the defensive midfielder that we have long been calling for.

The most troubled position was the left side, I'm not sure that buying a whole new first XI in one window is a good idea. Is that what they do in Italian football that you specialise in?

we have three players that can play right back, Ward on his day is lower prem quality, if he can chirp up alongside the rest of the team, he'll be like a new fresh right back again, like the player he was 18 month back. Which was pretty darn good.

You and your different qualities!!!
Ward has 3.5 years playing in the Premiership.
Luka has zero but is Champions League quality so should be ok ?
Is that correct expert.?

now ward and kelly don't have to worry about ever going left again, maybe they'll focus a little more on the basic responsibilities of a right back

Maybe BFS is thinking he can use both Ward and Tomkins as he now has another centre half in the shape of Sakho

But they're just not good enough. At least, Kelly isn't even one. That's why I don't understand how they didn't at least try to bring in other players after the Jenkinson deal failed.

A right back was definitely more needed than a defensive midfielder. McArthur has been great this season. I don't see the point of Milivojevic. He's very technical, but slow too. How will he cut it in the pace of the Premier League?
Reminds me of Wolverhampton's Petrovic from a few years ago. He didn't do that great either.

Yet, the club spends money on a defensive midfielder and not on a right back (!?)

I would have preferred a right-back instead of Sakho.

I'd a assume the management made a decision that Sakho is going to make the back four stronger than any of the available right backs they could have moved for.

And that the cover we have a RB or better than the cover we have at DM.

I'm more than happy with the window...
