Keane on Hodgson ,

''he has done an excellent job there at Palace''

.

But then again, what would Keane know about football, eh ?

A wonderful player with nearly 500 club appearances and almost 70 caps to his name.
I enjoy listening to his punditry.

I agree Keane knows a lot about football.
He said that we are not well organised, contrary to the myth, and that we had conceded 47 goals this season.
This is the second worst defensive record in the league.
I suppose it depends upon how you define excellence.

we concede a lot ,

and score a lot...relative to all the teams in the bottom half of the table.

because we regularly win a game by a single goal, we are forgiven the incidental thumpings we take from time to time....spurs tonight or Liverpool.

The overall points tally is more important than goal-difference.

The only stat that matters. Despite all the other stats of goals scored (at home/away), conceded (home/away), pass completion, away losses, home losses, shots on target, penalties for/against, VAR decisions, fouls committed......

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

Wasn’t it Roy himself who said goal difference was important because in a tight league it was worth an extra point.

Many would argue that the most important thing first and foremost is league points. They are the ultimate criteria by which teams win the league or get relegated. Goal difference, while being important, only comes into play at the very end in the event teams finish level on points, and how many times does that actually happen to determine the Champions or relegation?

Back in season 2007-08 both Fulham and Reading ended the season on 36 pts but Fulham had the better goal difference, -22, to Reading's -25, Fulham survived and Reading were relegated.
The Fulham manager was Roy Hodgson!

Just 1 more win will take us to 37 points. Enough to avoid that nightmare.

5 times in the PL for relegation alone.

Twice in the last twenty years is not a very high average

Only now after four years with little work done on improving the squad , with the the abilities of individuals declining , have we started to get heavily turned over score wise,on a more or less regular basis,.
One year out of four years of being defensively solid, now shipping more goals than is healthy, and it’s all Hodgsons fault. Desperation or what.
