Indeed he was Penge. He replaced Venables after he jumped ship to qpr.

he is much maligned, but it was a mistake to replace him with Big Mal who was past it by that time, we'd lost 9 out of 10 and were a mess, he wanted to shore things up play tight and graft, which got us a few points, he dropped Hilaire for Neil Smilie, after Big Mal it was Dario Gradi, who was cr*p for us
