Bizarre. Sacked because he disagreed with the BBC's historical (45 years ago) version of events and not because of anything he's done? Can they do that? Edited by Percy of Peckham (25 Feb 2016 8.03am)

Edited by Percy of Peckham (25 Feb 2016 8.03am) Seems like they've been doing as they choose for quite a while now, letting their celebs touch up young girls with impunity etc. etc.

Suspect definitely, was on Noels House Party and involved in Capital Radio, which is sufficient for me to be looping rope over a local tree Indeed, if he's been sacked over a difference of statements, he could sue, provided its reasonable. Obviously, if he lied, and it can be proven then he's probably in breach of contract.

I think he has a case for unfair dismissal. A previous investigation concluded the alleged event (nearly 40 years ago) didn't actually happen and the girl's mother withdrew her accusations to the police about him. He was completely exonerated. If the BBC wanted to get rid of him it would have safer/cheaper to retire him - as Rob says he's 73 FFS. He would have accepted it and gone quietly. Now they've potentially opened a can of worms with this action. Millions of pounds of our money will probably be wasted on a court case and compo. The BBC once again playing fast and loose with our money! Edited by Hoof Hearted (25 Feb 2016 10.23am)

Would it be childish and wrong of me to start calling him Tony Bumburn?
