Mine is Maine Road. Absolutely loved the place. The seated away end. That massive covered terrace all the way down one side. Always a great atmosphere. Pretty lively day out every time I went there. Late 80's were a bloody great time to be a football fan. Yes there was always a risk of trouble. Yes the old bill treated us like s***. But I'd have it back anytime over what we have today. And Maine Road pretty well sums it up for me.

WBA - The Hawthorns My mate perky who lives in Chepstow is a lifelong baggie and before I got Parkinson's we would go home and away together for quite a few seasons in the Championship/Prem. We would have a few beers in a pub on the way, followed by a Balti midweek (with huge nan bread WTF?) and then get to the ground where we'd split off. The Albion stewards at the away end are really nice guys, very friendly and helpful. Their fans generate a lot of noise and it's a great atmosphere. Afterwards we would meet up near his car or at the station, try and get a late beer midweek or an early evening one and a balti on a Saturday and then make our way home to Bristol/Chepstow. I miss those days/evenings we would have a good laugh and enjoy ourselves.

Maine Road was great at the match, a nightmare after it. I often found the (new) Den a decent away-day. Small, compact ground where you are so close to the home fans you can see the spittle flying from each mouth and a general look of incomprehension. Great atmosphere from the Palace faithful but surprisingly little atmosphere from the home fans. The old Den was a nightmare, before during and after the only visit I had there.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

For atmosphere and numbers has to be Loftus Road when we played them in the early 80's. Maine Road was epic then too I agree. Lucky to still be here to write this stuff. They were fookin' mental. Hated Stamford Bridge. Terrace was open and far away from the goal and not very high.

Wouldn't say it was my favourite away ground but the old Millwall Den was like the Coliseum. I used to expect to see real lions come out and eat the Christians when going there. Creepy place but always good to get out alive!

I've always enjoyed trips to the likes of Ipswich, Norwich Southampton and Reading!! They're not too far to go, it's always a good turn out of palace fans and they'be never been intimidating places to go either, you can mooch round the towns and grounds without worrying about getting your head kicked in, even back in the 80's
