theory... Do you believe in it or not?

Scientists like to understand stuff and it often becomes useful, but knowing the origin of the Universe is nothing more than knowledge for the sake of it. I doubt that any human is anywhere near understanding the true nature of the Universe anyway and we very possibly will never know.

It's an interesting point....the whole, 'what's the point of knowledge for the sake of it'. The research around races and IQs for example, I've heard criticisms of that due to it having more negative consequences than good. The study of the atom ultimately ended up giving us the nuclear bomb. It's interesting but on the whole I go with 'knowledge for knowledge's sake' as still being a very important principle.

I like knowledge for knowledge sake but some knowledge will have little or no effect on our condition.
