Not a mate but I did sit next to Marcus Trescothick at a charity lunch a few years ago. Nice, normal down to earth guy he was too. My ex business partner had a few well known mates including the celebrity chef Brian Turner with whom he had several joint ventures and working late in the office one night someone rang for him saying that it was Ilie Nastase - and it was. Although he knew both of them very well I never actually met either so that doesn't count

I grew up playing basketball and american football with Terrence Garvin of the Seattle Seahawks, [Link] I waited Michael Phelps table about ten years ago, he had two beautiful asian women in tow, thats about it for me and my brushes with the elites.

Kieran O'Regan (Republic of Ireland) and Chris Hutchins play at my golf club. I wasn't impressed when playing a pairs match with Kieran and he told me that he had scored a goal at Selhurst Park - for Brighton!!!

Kind of... One of my very very good mates is starting to become 'famous' if that's the right word. His name is Tom Davis. He's a comedian/actor. Great big f***er as he's 6'8. He's been in things The Keith Lemon Show, Plebs and has had 2 series of his own show called Murder in Successville on BBC. We went through playschool, first, middle and secondary school together and grew up 8 houses apart. Still firm friends with him now.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |
