I’d be over the moon if we had a couple of seasons in the top league (full houses, get to do the big away grounds) then get relegated (get to see loads more goals/wins, do a few of the championship away grounds). I know promotion isn’t guaranteed/easy , but if we could spend a few years in each league it would be ideal for me. Get the parachute payments, play millwall/charlton as well as maybe winning a league, play off finals. More youngsters would get a chance , all the high earners would have clauses saying that would get reduced wages when relegated. 8 odd years in the top league and we haven’t improved Selhurst at all, I know the training ground is getting sorted. The atmosphere would always be great, either fighting for promotion, or a first year in the premier league. I’ve thought before that city/ Chelsea 50 odd year olds have had a right result, spent their 20s/ early 30s going to the ‘proper grounds’ coming away disappointed, understanding what it’s like to not be that good. Then reach their mid 30s/40s (when they are chilling out a bit and probably getting a few more quid) and they are winning leagues and going to the San Siro/ Nou camp.etc. I know if we get relegated we might not come back up again for ages or ever. Watford, Norwich, West Brom seem to have it sussed.

Or somewhere thereabouts. It is a shame that the ground hasn't improved because it's getting shabbier by the season, although not quite falling apart - as it was before. At least we have an academy and better training facilities. One day we'll be forced to do something to the ground, unless the National Trust stop us. Red and Blue Army!

It is a shame that the ground hasn't improved because it's getting shabbier by the season, although not quite falling apart - as it was before. At least we have an academy and better training facilities.
One day we'll be forced to do something to the ground, unless the National Trust stop us.

We were lucky not to get relegated to League 1 , We were loosing on average £4m a season, We also had to endure some really really toilet football in the Championship too...The grass isn’t always greener and in fact it can be downright dangerous

It wasn't so long ago that young lads and girls were wearing Arsenal and Chelsea shirts in the Croydon area. Now they wear Palace shirts because we are Premier League. We are still growing as a Premier club and we should be proud. We are a Premier club because of people like our Chairman and our Manager. Instead of moaning we should be thanking Mr Parish and Mr Hodgson both Palace legends.

It wasn't so long ago that young lads and girls were wearing Arsenal and Chelsea shirts in the Croydon area.
Now they wear Palace shirts because we are Premier League.
We are still growing as a Premier club and we should be proud. We are a Premier club because of people like our Chairman and our Manager.
Instead of moaning we should be thanking Mr Parish and Mr Hodgson both Palace legends.

All the time we are in the Premier league we should at least be able to feel that the continued existence of the club is assured, and that's probably the main thing. One other point I think gets overlooked when people pine for a period in the championship is that all the good times we had in that league were before we found out how dull and dispiriting being an 'established' Premier league side actually is. Competing in the championship when you don't actually want, or at least don't feel excited by, the greater implications of promotion would not only be very different to those good days we had in that league, it would also be a bizarre, probably unpleasant experience within itself.

Then, for the second season we use the money to invest in youth and to be the best team in the championship, whilst plying our trade in the prem. We stay up, 3rd year in the prem and introduce more youngsters to the squad, with an eye of having a good cup run, so we invest on experience. So on paper, we have a strong championship, that looks solid with the future looking good, a stepping stone club, whilst playing in the prem with the mandate to get to 40 points in record time. We go down, that's ok... we have a strong squad, we don't need to sell, we have money saved, no debt, youth... we have a fun season, get to play offs, miss out. That's ok, next year, we do it again and go up.. the joy. Repeat. That way, we never go bust, never break the bank, we invest and know who we are. We see wins, we have a fun season, we give it a go but know who we are. This was once a quality forum....

-4-3 Liverpool at villa Pk
-Blackburn play off game at home (Wright bright)
-zenith cup final
-fa cup final x 2
-Stockport away
-sheff we’d away
-5-0 Brighton at home
-Brighton playoff final away
-Watford play off final Wembley

You could argue 3-3 Liverpool at home. How many of the best/ biggest games have been in the premier league ?

I know what you are saying but all the time we are up there, we have slim chance of winning the cup or qualifying for Europe. Personally, I would die happy after that.
