What has happened to progress of this guy. Looked to be breaking into the first team before he went on loan to Kilmarnock yet he had only played 3 games in Scotland. Does anyone know if he has been injured or just not shown the promise that we were hoping for. Thought he looked OK when he he has been on the pitch.

This does seem to happen a lot with wingers. They are very hit and miss and the position isn't always down to just skill on the ball but work rate, tracking back etc.

The Kilmarnock loan was to the end of the season and there doesn’t seem to be any news of his return. He was last named as a sub for the game against Motherwell on 20 March and was brought on 4 minutes from the end when Killie were winning 4-1. Before that he was again named as a sub against Rangers on 13 February, but he didn’t play. Apart from this, he had the last 20 minutes against Celtic on 2 February and played the first hour against St. Mirren in the following match, being withdrawn immediately after St. Mirren went 2-0 up. So that’s less than 90 minutes football. I would guess that he's not exactly what Kilmarnock were looking for: bit of a wasted loan for them and him.

He made substitute appearances in the last two games - the promotion play-offs. He did miss a few matches in April, perhaps with a knock, but before that he was playing quite regularly I believe. The fans seem to have liked him by all accounts.

None of our loaned out players appear to have done well this season at what are pretty mediocre teams and leagues. Those who are demanding Hodgson play the youngsters might want to reflect on this. It's true that some of the U18s are very promising but still a way to go imo.

Every time someone complains that our youngsters aren't given a chance, and that we won't know what they might be capable of until they get a game for our first team, several of us pop up to rehash the same response. The club has a pretty good idea of how good the youth lads are likely to be. Not a definitive, scientific formula to prove exact potential, but a good idea. They seem to come in three camps: a. Good enough to play for us now. Most youth players are in C, then some in B, with a rare few in A. Those players must stand out like sore thumbs. Moses, Watson, Wilf, Clyne, AWB and Mitchell did not go on loan, they just played, and never came out of the first-team squad. Most lads in group B go out on loan so that we can find out if they are good enough. Most of the time they prove that they aren't. Innis did, I expect Woods, McGregor, Kirby and Banks are doing so right now. Pierrick seemed to be rated higher than the others, but not to the point that he moved into group A. Sadly, there is no real surprise to it if he doesn't turn out to be good enough. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised by the lad of course, but I'd expect a player who is good enough for us to stand out when on loan in a lower league, like Reece James did at Wigan. None of ours have.

None of ours have. Surely, for the lads in Group B, the standard of coaching that they receive whilst out on loan could be a major factor as to how well or badly they develop?

None of ours have. Very good points. Just look at the youngsters who play for England at U16. They are supposed to be the elite youngsters, they dont all go on to make a career in the pro game.
