| So mention privatising the NHS and loads go in to melt down about care at point of need etc etc. The NHS is too big to fail but to big to succeed. It is an inefficient dinosaur wasting money and not fulfilling its potential. (CP this isn't about the recent dosh

| Public sector inefficiency or private sector profit. You pay for either system. Generally I am pro-business but I don’t believe certain utilities can ever really be privatised. Take the railways - heads the private companies win, tails they don’t lose - just hand it back if isn’t making money. Risk of going bust is a key motivator for private sector firms. Feck it up and you are toast. Without that incentive they are not truly private companies. Regarding privatising the NHS, I can’t see it providing much benefit. For sure it is inefficient but if you look at the US, which is mainly done on an insurance basis is also full of inefficiency. Care is massively over-specced, drugs over-prescribed, just to make money, not for any health benefits. Also their system is much less fair than ours.

I mean certain parts, like patient transport or ambulances.

The NHS, though imperfect is a valuable and vital safety net. I'm not sure that we have anything more valuable to lose in this country. We must be on the look out to ward off any creeping changing that will warp its nature. Governments will likely attempt to do the opposite. They will invite such changes in.

Richi was in California the other week getting the ball rolling, we soon won"t be able to get the drugs required for treatment as the pharmos are already in charge- it will be just the stuff you could do yourself at home that you will get an appointment for.

Isn't making money the same as saving money in this particular scenario. Lets say hmg were to offer to privatise certain bits and then guaranteed a healthy pay rise for the staff. You would then say what? Edited by cryrst (12 Jan 2022 7.21pm)

You do talk some belony. Why would they limit drugs that people need. Take the red glasses off and try to see any benefit of cost savings.

You just don"t get it, they wont spend on the privatised drugs as they are to expensive and would rather bandage 10 peoples arms- thats 10 happy customers- rather than the one life saving op- looks better in the accounts.Take off those blue tinted specs !
