Probably because it has precisely nothing to do with the EU as I would guess you are well aware. That said, The French sure know how to demonstrate - I wonder how all that will work out with the King's pending visit?

Much as macron is a dick imo I think he is protecting the future generations. I mean retire at 62 and get a state pension. Life expectancy has gone up considerably in the last twenty years and there is only so much tax dollars compared to expenditure. Especially now as we are slowly being kept alive forcibly !!!! 62 is really the new 50 ish when you look around the west.

Life expectancy has gone up considerably in the last twenty years and there is only so much tax dollars compared to expenditure. Especially now as we are slowly being kept alive forcibly !!!!

i have a sneaking respect for the French, as they always seem to do things properly. Even demonstrations aren't the half-@r5ed efforts you see in the UK (now restricted by Law).
The French always bring fire to a demonstration, which makes a good photo, and the buffets are very nice too.

The issue is not so much about the wisdom or not in these reforms but the fact that Macron forced them through against the wishes of the majority of the countries elected representatives. The World has changed beyond all recognition. In the past, a fella was an adult working with a shovel at age 17. Often with his own home , wife and kids on the way. Today, the same fella lives with his parents at age 40 and will inherit when he is 50. And his mum could well make it to 92. The mathematics of pensions is the tricky part. Granted but being realistic how many years before pension wise you are a net taker. Personally I’m a mid range earner so 30 or so years for me. Some are within 10 years. That’s with our retirement age. In France it must be younger and less years.

Granted but being realistic how many years before pension wise you are a net taker.
Personally I’m a mid range earner so 30 or so years for me. Some are within 10 years.
That’s with our retirement age. In France it must be younger and less years.
