Very depressing news from this already well paid class, who regularly pull the wool over our eyes, bleating on about their being paid £14 an hour, when they well know that after a few short years, many will be paid well in excess of £100,000 per annum with a fully index linked pension the like of which many of us can only dream about. Edited by Jacey (23 Jun 2023 11.58am) How does a pay increase in a few years help to navigate exploding rents/mortgage rates, food prices, bills and general cost of living? How many doctors do you think earn over £100,000 per annum? What do you mean that their claim is politically motivated? On behalf of who?

we should pay Medical professionals more, and footballers less.
Pause, for a moment to reflect upon just how unpleasant a job it can be.... - violent junkies at ER - aggressive relatives of the dying - very high academic standards to reach - the constant threat of being sued or struck-off etc etc.... Doctors deserve a medal, more than the average Mercenary in Ukraine. Edited by PalazioVecchio (23 Jun 2023 12.59pm)

Junior Doctors are the workhorses of the NHS. How they cope is beyond me, heroes treated like donkeys. 35% is nothing, this situation has been going on for many years, I well remember thanking one for treating my son and realising how drained and exhausted he was.

More than I thought to be fair! But I believe that average is also including private GPs, not just those employed by the NHS, which is what is relevant to the strikes. "In the NHS, the earnings for a salaried GP range from £65,070 to £98,194, depending on their experience level, working hours and where in the country they’re working."

They start low & work the way up Grade Nodal Value £ It is on par with other grad roles. When you role in the additional allowances for unsociable hours etc. You add another £10k approx. The pension is the big thing most in Public Sector don't understand. No not as generous as they once were, but way above what most of us can get, with an average of 15% being paid in but the pension being based on earnings not fund performance. All that being said not a job I would want, but then I wouldn't want to go into Laz or accountancy either both of which start at a similar level. Barista Maestro @ Costa - £11.70 per hour or £24k per year.

A similar disconnect between people's perception of what solicitors and accountants earn and what they actually earn. Electricians and plumbers might be astonished to know they considerably out earn their lawyers!

Medical workers.....underpaid, over-worked heroes, with good academic grades. Often working a job that nobody wants or is capable of doing. TFL workers.....the opposite
