I had been working abroad for six months .
When I arrived home , a nurse I knew ask if we could go to a local night club in Colchester . Which I of course I did .
We had a drink and we agreed , now we were in the mood , that we would have the next dance .
To my surprise on came " Je t'aime " . It was a shock as I had never heard it before .
Had a great evening after that .

It was banned by the Vatican, and our very own BBC!

My favourite film 'Daddy Nostalgie' (Bernard Tavernier'), a sensitive portrayal of a daughter with a dying father (Bogarde).

I remember the BBC used to play an instrumental version of Je t'aime called 'Love at First Sight' by Sounds Nice.

No heavy breathing or talking about skewering women's kidneys.

It was said at the time, that someone at the BBC had translated "entre tes bras" as "between your legs"; hence the ban.

No idea whether it's true or not. Probably apocryphal.
