Luton have City and we have Liverpool next week. After that, we both play Fulham, Wolves and West Ham. If we match them in those fixtures, then we will be OK. We also have a game in hand at home to Newcastle.

But i do catch your meaning. we can be shyte, so long as Luton are too. Trouble is, anybody got any notions on the motivations of the opposition teams ? hungry or wearing flip-flops & hungover ?

Luton are good at home, and they have Brentford, Everton, Fulham at home. That's easily 4-6 points. Away they have Wolves and West Ham, could be 1-3 points there. So I'd put them at 5-9 points from their remaining matches, which means 30-34. We have Liverpool, Fulham, Wolves away. I'd say 1 point from those. And West Ham, Newcastle, ManU, Villa at home. I'd say 1-3 points from those, giving us 2-4 points, which means 32-34. So Luton will be on 30-34 points, and we'll be on 32-34. Luton will likely have a better GD than us by the end, it's going to be very close. We could easily blow this and go down. We've done it before, and literally everything has gone wrong for us this season already, with no end in sight. Edited by Wilbraham413 (07 Apr 2024 3.46am)

Trouble is, anybody got any notions on the motivations of the opposition teams ? hungry or wearing flip-flops & hungover ? That’s what it’s come to I’m afraid, it’s called a relegation battle It’s amazing though, that no matter how poor we’ve been this season, all our problems, injuries, conceding late goals, not defending set pieces, our usual lack of goals, not scoring from corners…..we’re still where we are with a bit of a cushion from the drop zone. It just shows how bad some of the teams are down there. Obviously points deductions could help us as well if Luton do go on a bit of a run, but we’re still pretty lucky to be where we are.

I read somewhere that since we came back up 41 points is the lowest figure we have achieved over a season. On paper Luton have an easier run in than us and it would not surprise me if they gain another 9 points. We may need another 5 or 6 points to be clear which may not sound too onerous over 7 games.

Luton have made a real fist of their stay in the PL and I suspect surprised many who thought they would be the 'Whipping boys'.They play with real spirit, verve, vim and vigour. I believe they signed 16 players since being promoted and their recruitment is worthy of praise.Mick Harford is their 'Chief Recruitment Officer'. I can see where you're coming from, but there's no guarantee Olise won't break down again? Originally posted by Elpis

I do think that we are in serious trouble and I hope that the players and manager know that. My main concern with Glasner was that he has never experienced a relegation battle. Does Glasner ? We could stay up with 6 draws.

We are paying the price for a succession of transfer windows where we haven't done enough business allied with a number of injuries to our better players. As we are under financial restrictions I suspect we will need to sell end of season for a proper recruitment summer. On the plus the new manager may be able to pick up some decent signings based on his knowledge within the game. Priority though is now to get the required points this season to ease any worries.
