Flamini was is replacement but seemed a last minuted and overall ill-judged replacement. Pardew took no steps to try to get Flamini much game time until a few weeks ago. Many on here supported getting rid of Jedinak because he was supposedly getting on but Flamini was the same age (32) and had barely played for the last year. Despite Flamini surprising us with a few good appearances in the last month, bringing him in still seems nonsensical when you consider the criteria that Jedinak was supposedly sold because of. For me it's obvious that it's either blatant incompetence on Pardew's part or a deal falling through led us to signing Flamini to cover up the cracks left by Jedinak's departure. I think that's probably very likely. Nevertheless, now that he's in the team, I think he's looked pretty good. Bringing in another experienced player on a free doesn't mean it was a bad idea to sell another at the same age for £4m. Especially when the player coming in has Champions League experience and is much more likely to be able to keep the ball compared to Jedi.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

In reality I really don't think there is that much between the two, other than people find it easier to overlook Speroni imperfections and blame Hennessey for any goal he concedes.

Still think Jules edges selection based on the fact he seems to command / control his area far better than WH who can pull off a wonder save but look away with the fairies for others.

On it's own, getting Flamini on a free in with the experience he brings is a good piece of business. I do like Flamini, certainly over Ledley in that position. But selling a player for £4m in this day and age is like letting them go on a free transfer because any replacements under 30 years old will set you back 3 to 4 times that. I think Parish should have really thought again whether allowing Pardew such control over transfers out was a good idea. Pardew was not in the strongest positions already, his record in the second half of 15/16 should have been a warning to Parish that he might have to sack him anyway. If Pardew didn't want Jedi, then a loan away would have been better imo.

Stripping him of his captaincy a week before selling him just wasn't on in my opinion. Terrible treatment of an absolute legend.

It would be nice to see Jedi back at Selhurst, and I dare say he could strengthen the squad, as in kick Mutch out on his useless arse, and have Jedi back. But I think those of you who think he is the answer to our midfield lightness are (IMO) letting nostalgia rule there brains. As much as I detest old elephant face at Villa, he's no div when it comes to managing a club, and lets face it Jedi Hasn't exactly pulled up trees at Villa. Anyway first choice has to be a left back, and cover at CB, and please God a striker as our 32 million one doesn't work properly.

Probably because he still loves Palace so much and it just doesn't feel right for him. Like shagging a new bird when you're still live with your ex I am joking of course.
