Defoe is no risk. Most others are. Defoe is deadly. Why can't he demand the money?

It is not the risk of him being able to perform that worries me, and there is no risk of resale because he will not be worth anything in two years time, but it is the question of whether we are going to be able to find a system for both Benteke and Defoe. Defoe needs to be playing regularly at his age and it would be a waste of precious resources and also an injustice to him if we got him in and then didn't find a system that got the best out of him and Benteke. The one thing that I really like is that he has scored goals in a really poor Sunderland side. A bit like Benteke and Aston Villa. Anyone who suggests that he hasn't earned the right to be given serious consideration must have buried their head in the sand for the last few years - but there is no point shelling out for players unless Sam thinks that they are going to suit how he wants to play.

Yep looks like Bournemouth are going to beat us to another decent signing , probably gonna happen all summer better get used to being passed over

I like Defoe, a natural goal scorer. If he came to us it would be either as back up to Benteke, instead of Benteke or with two up front. I'd rather have Benteke, can't see Defoe wanting to be a sub and I can't see us playing two up front very often. We need another striker, but i can't see Defoe being in our plans.

Without a shred of research, I'm pretty sure that Defoe scored quite a few more than 10 in the time he was on loan to Arry's mates at Bournemouth. Of course, nostalgia ain't what it used to be.

Let Bournemouth have him. I'd take a charity £10 bet right now that Tekkers will score more goals than him next season, assuming equivalent game time.
