Just because someone would like to do something doesn’t mean they will be allowed to. British law applies in Scotland just as it does in the rest of the UK and any developments will require planning permission.

Proscribed might have been better, but precluded is also accurate as the IRA were precluded by reason of their proscription.

That doesn’t mean that the educated and wise are unable to set such things in their context of time and place. Modern, educated western Muslims are just of capable of doing the same, and do so every day.

We need to work hard and ceaselessly to bring everyone to that threshold. The coming generations will be helped in school. Handling the current generations is where the issues lie. It can, and is, being improved but the problems won’t disappear overnight.

As I have said many times in these threads my own opinion is that there should be no faith schools of any kind in the UK. Religion should be taught as a subject, covering the tenets of all the major religions, and the beliefs of those who hold no religious belief. Religious influences should not appear at school. British values of tolerance and respect are what should be the mainstay.

Religion is for church and home.

It would be resisted but it needs to be insisted upon.

Worrying. So for every one of these Southport situations there could be 10 that are prevented. Or none. The thing is there should be no successful attacks but we insist on a low profile, softly softly approach to these things with a hope that nothing bad happens. The good news it that the terrorist Anjem Choudary, is likely to be given a life sentence today for being leader of Al-Muhajiroun, responsible for the murder of Lee Rigby in 2013, and attacks on London Bridge in 2017 and 2019. I now await the Wisbechian squid-ink on this.

The good news it that the terrorist Anjem Choudary, is likely to be given a life sentence today for being leader of Al-Muhajiroun, responsible for the murder of Lee Rigby in 2013, and attacks on London Bridge in 2017 and 2019.
