Unless the club wanted a particular rumour scotched.

The only thing guaranteed is Olise will not be on the pitch anywhere for the first game of the season.
My tuppence halfpenny says he will be playing on our hallowed turf later this year.

For those who still think he has a £35m release clause, here is HOL from April this year.

Poch being there would certainly not send him backwards. Sadly they have more to offer and hand on heart what would we do in his position.
Treble wages, chasing titles maybe, trophies and European football. I get he needs more games but it’s not a bostock scenario !

Seems odd that Chelsea are demanding £50m reportedly for Gallagher when he had a poor season at the club last year albeit in an underperforming team.

I'm sure that The Athletic later backpedalled on that comment so no-one really knows

The days of clubs being penalised for 'tapping up' the players of other clubs seem to be a thing of the past.
The power is now largely in the hands of the players who can run down their contracts, insert buy out clauses in their contracts or in some cases even effectively go on strike.
It has been widely reported that Chelsea have been in contact with the representatives of both Olise and Guehi and these stories do appear to have authenticity.
They have lost Fofana for the season through injury and need to replace him and they know Guehi and his people as well as reportedly having a buy back clause if other clubs express interest in the player (which apparently they have).
There's a lot of speculation as to what is or is not in Olise's contract, but in truth none of us can know without sight of it.
This would also apply to The Athletic and the likes of Darren Ambrose.
I'm unaware of Olise signing a new contract removing a buy out clause as the club have not announced the same, but it's possible it could have happened (unlikely in my view).
Ultimately though if players want to go they will generally find a way.

Would be good to know the truth as to whether clause applies or not.

Many on here believe Darren Ambrose, who apparently recently confirmed that any release clause was removed last year, but interestingly, most media outlets confirm it's existence.

So more reliable sources, including the Independent and Daily Mail all reporting a release clause of £35 m applies until 2026.
If true,a very poor negotiation on our part.

Darren Ambrose is an employee of the club isn’t he? Who to believe? Ambrose or the media.

Why?

Olise had a clause at Reading to prevent him being priced out of a move.

I suspect it would have been a case of giving him the release clause or he ain't signing
