They (Sainsburys) said this week they were unaware of the plans and a cpfc spokesperson has said Parish is throwing it out there to see if the council and Sainsburys are going to cooperate. That doesn't hint that any deal on land or anything has happened with Sainsburys. If a price was agreed, don't you think Parish would announce it, seeing as he's ready and willing to announce things that haven't been agreed?

That answers the question then. No price agreed. Parish is trying to use the media exposure of the announcement to get people talking and agreeing.

Who knows if that ploy will work.... knowing SP recent track record it'll blow up in his face and HOL can feed on his remains...

There are so many ifs and buts and it's so long-term that it's hardly worth getting excited about. If a spade hasn't been put in the ground by 2019 then I'd forget about it. The CPP proposal wasn't properly thought through and went nowhere and the, in my view, insignificant changes to the training ground were kicked into touch plus we never went ahead with the new club shop/offices despite having planning permission and agreement with Sainsbury's. The track record isn't good, but let's hope that, this time, something does actually happen.

I thought the cpp proposal was well known to be a way to stop spurs getting their hooks into the area for a training facility?

I'm now thinking that once we have one of either the council or Sainsburys in a 'cooperative' mindset Parish has mentioned I think it'll start to move towards an end result. It's looking like the council are going to cooperate so I think it'll eventually happen.

I haven't included locals in this but the Wooderson Close CPOs I think will go through. The Clifton Road and Holmesdale Road residents may achieve amendments to the plans but they won't stop it I wouldn't have thought.

Looking at this now the council seem positive I think Parish has probably played this right. It's a gamble and certainly was one hinting it at Boxpark but I think it may be either this or get nowhere going in circles with councillors and unreturned phone calls to Sainsburys.

If he pulls this off he can claim to be 'best' or one of the best chairman and not one that spends fortunes in January on short term fixes that are bad value for money to cover poor management the previous Jan-August. 5 years is fair enough but it's having a knock on effect afterwards more and more and it's being big spenders on known players that's potentially damaging and not really that big a claim. If you're spending is so high in this league you expect us to remain in it rather than claim it's due to superb management.

We? You mean you.

62,000 seats for 600 million is 9,677 per seat.

The new Main Stand will have around 14,000 seats (taking the current capacity of 6,000 and adding the 8,000 additional seats from the project), and cost 100 million (max). That's 7,143 per seat, or 25% less per seat than Chelsea's new digs.

I think the Arthur is 8,000 seats, which is exactly the same as the proposed main stand expansion...

The Arfah is 9754 seats.

8,000 is the number of additional seats from the project, meaning the main stand will be about 14,000 seats all told, up from the 6,163 seats it has now.

Good stuff Ray.
I think our capacity is now officially 25,456 although we reported 25,526 against Everton.

Thanks!

According to Wikipedia, official capacity is 26,074. A number of seats get taken out of use to allow for fan segregation, though, which I suspect accounts for the difference.

I heard something like this at the time.

Why? Maybe to stop Spurs moving in on our patch even more than they already do.

Sainsbury's have never refused to sell, just valued the land far higher than us. If the club really want to make this happen then they will just have to agree to pay Sainsbury's what they want. Yeah they're probably taking the piss with the value but I'm sure it's more than affordable for a premier league club with billionaire owners.

Very good point. And we could be sitting on a potential goldmine with Selhurst Park if, as they say, the whole area comes up like they say it will.
Croydon the new Shoreditch and all that. Can’t see it myself but the people in Hoxton and Wapping thought the same about their ways a 20 odd years ago.
