Thanks! According to Wikipedia, official capacity is 26,074. A number of seats get taken out of use to allow for fan segregation, though, which I suspect accounts for the difference. Wiki is wrong for that capacity ,we haven’t reported a 26K crowd for years.

It was 1 million including the plot of land next to the holmesdale entrance which now has flats on it.

I heard something like this at the time. Why? Maybe to stop Spurs moving in on our patch even more than they already do. You have completely misunderstood the situation at the time. There was NO suggestion whatsoever that Spurs were planning anything in CPP. Spurs were interested in moving to the Olympic Stadium and there was talk at the time that the athletics facility at CPP may be upgraded to compensate for the loss of this. If we had been able to move to CPP that may have put a spanner in Spurs plans. As it's turned out the OS was made dual purpose and WHU got to move in, whilst we pulled out of the CPP plans due to the real possibility of years of legal wrangling.

Uprooting scores of families from their homes with a CPO just so we can have a shiny new AW stand? Doesn't seem right at all. Keep the AW as it is size wise but refurbish and re-build section by section. Give over. The answer is to increase the Whitehorse end to 7 or 8k and increase the angle of the AW or just take the top off and put a pretty pre built roof on it. It could lose a few thousand seats and we'd still have around 40k. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (07 Dec 2017 12.10pm)

Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (07 Dec 2017 12.10pm) Just make the whole, three quarters or half of the AW safe standing and put a new roof and facilities in there, that would increase the capacity by... well, quite a few I should imagine? Put the away fans in new seating in the corner between the Whitehorse and the far end of the AW and encourage all of the Holmedsale faithful who want to stand to move into the Holmesdale end of the AW where they will be more visible. That would then open up more seats in the Holmesdale for those who want to sit down. Safe standing would be very popular IMO.

Hopefully with it's introduction, those who currently insist on standing will use this area allowing all those who wish to sit to be able to do so without having their view impeded. Besides there is a safety element to consider with the current situation whereby those who stand in seated areas could easily fall over and injure themselves in their euphoria after a goal has been scored. Anyhow I have said enough about all this current standing in seated areas so not much more to add.
