It'll be a good move for him if he gets the job. If it's true that Oxford made an approach for him previously but was denied then access by Palace, presumably, he's got a decent chance of getting it.

Would it be the worst for us too?

If he goes to Oxford and struggles it's surely a wise move for us if we were/are considering ushering him.

If he goes there and proves a sensation, where better would he go for the proverbial 'step up'?

Any middle ground there and we can keep an eye on things, a good litmus test.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Hopefully Paddy will take a few of our youngsters on loan if he gets the Oxford job.

If Paddy was interviewed then that would suggest he has no expectation of taking over from Roy. To be honest I don't see Parish taking that kind of risk unless pushed anyway. More experienced managers have in the main served him best. Moyes' contrast expires this summer and rumours are it won't be extended. He has the charisma of a dead fish but he would probably be a good manager for us.

It will be Roy for another year or Paddy, nobody else, if we avoid any major injuries and get a couple of decent loans in Jan, i think we will finish 7th or 8th, if that happens it will be about not rocking the boat.

If we finished that high it would be an astonishing achievement. Not saying it won't happen but I can't shrug off the idea that we're "only" Palace and are somehow blagging it - especially with the recognised weaker spots in the team.
Optimism is an alien concept where CPFC are involved.

Jeez you are optimistic. Not a snowballs chance in hell we'll finish 7/8th

Didnt get any loans in the summer, and that was knowing we were going to be without Olise, cant imagine us getting any in Jan.

we have two outstanding centre backs, two outstanding central midfielders and two outstanding play makers, a a merely great left back and two top keepers - this is the closest we've been to being a genuinely 'good side, since the Southgate, Coleman, Salako, Armstrong/Stewart side that was only a couple of players away from being top 8. A reliable striker that doesn't break the bank is very hard to find admittedly, but if we can get a clever loan or that PSG fella (Timo Werner's name is circulating - though 'reliable' might not describe him) then it's not a fantasy that we could get 8th, 7th might be pushing it, but we have a lot of top, top players - and we just need an OK right back and a clinical striker who can run faster than a tortoise and we're bang there. Take the 50/1 about us for the Cup this season.

Two new names to add to the list to replace Roy.
Urs Fischer has brought the unfashionable Union Berlin from obscurity to the forefront of German football and European qualification over the last five years. We played his team in a pre-season friendly a few years ago in their compact stadium and lost 0-2.
Rudi Garcia has been sacked by Serie A Champions Napoli for some poor results which sees them only 4th in the league. Whilst they are 2nd in their Champions League Group they still have to play Real Madrid twice so qualification for the knockout stages is not guaranteed.
Both managers have demonstrated longevity (by football standards) and success in their managerial posts. However, Rudi Garcia may consider a job at Palace a step down where as Fischer may enjoy the similarities between his former Club and a step up to the Premier League.

Union Berlin who are currently bottom of the table and can't score for love, nor money? No thanks!

It will not be Paddy, You do not risk a £120m a year income on a bloke who's only Premiership managerial game was a 4 1 thumping when he said he thought we'd played well!

With Everton getting a 10 point deduction, even if they are better than us, which I don't belive they are, they're definitely not 10 points better than us. Along with the other poor teams at the bottom of the table, we're pretty much guaranteed to remain in the league.

This gives us plenty of time to identify a replacement for Roy. We will be a prem club and we will be fairly attractive to most managers out there. If we don't have a replacement before the euros then we should be asking what the board are playing at. They've got plenty of time and there should be no excuses.
