As only about 4 point was the difference between 10th and 17th the reality is we are looking for a manager who can keep us up for another 3 years plus. Stoke, Southampton and Bournemouth were all with in 2 results from us. Dyche knows the league. Pellegrino is more of a gamble to get possibly another 5-6 points or relegation?

More I think about it Dyche is likely to be the safer option. Other than the top 7 it is about avoiding relegation.

ZZZZZZZZZ if that is only ever our goal then that's all we will ever achieve

Maybe Dyche will be tempted by Palace's likely much bigger funds available for summer spending.

I don't think there is any release clause of £5 million - maybe £1 million is correct.

I DO know that Dyche has been promised major funds to strengthen this summer, but he was pretty appalling in the transfer market last season - Hendrick (£10 million) was a partial success but both Defour (£8 million) and Brady (£13 million) have been expensive flops so far with Johann Berg Gudmunnson (£3.5 million) a permanent sicknote. And the jury is still out on underwhelming signing Ashley Westwood (£5 million).

Dyche has a rigid system which relies on the tracking back of George Boyd and Scott Arfield - Defour and Brady cannot/will not track back so are on the bench.

If you do get Dyche, it will be interesting how he gets on with flair players like Zaha and Townsend - he likes his wingers tucked in narrow.

He'd also expect Benteke to chase around like a blue-arsed fly

None of that bodes well.

Everything Lancy Claret said convinces me even more that we shouldn't have Dyche.

I think Parish wants an English or British manager.

While the yanks want the best manager we can possibly get.possibly a coach from abroad.

I'm with the yanks on this one.

I'm not getting involved in all this manager business.

All I will say is that I overheard a chap last night saying that when one considers what Steve has said about the type of manager he would like (And all this 'Transition' under Pardew etc etc )then Dyche fits the bill.

I'll leave it at that.

Why comment then?

That sums it up for me - uninspiring and flirting with the wrong end of the table again.
Whilst we don't want to do a Charlton and think we're ready to break into the Top 6 we should be looking for a bit more excitement than this.

Seconded!

This whole thread just makes me more and more pissed off that Sam left us.
I really felt this was the best fit for us for ages and the football was looking good once he'd found his feet.
As well as a relegation saver I felt he was really going to move us further to the next step.

Still if Dyche or whoever comes in and wins the first 2 games he'll be the best thing ever. Fickle? Much.

I've already answered this question, thank you very much.

Can we return to the subject matter and NOT just concentrate on the minutiae of my comments.

To be truthful I just had the impression that Allardyce wasn't really "Wedded" to our club and that he would go at the end of the season even if we stayed up.I kept thinking that if we survived he would conclude that he had done the job asked of him and it was therefore time to leave.I was therefore surprised he was talking about plans for the coming season and wasn't surprised at all when he announced he was going.

Well done to Allardyce for keeping us up and all the best for the future.

Then he's barking up the wrong tree Lancy; it would appear we may have overspent in January.

Thanks for all the insights and all the best for next season

Dyche will not improve us defensively, we've just had Big Sam in FFS.
That said I'd have him here if he wasn't so rigid with the 442 thing, I know professional footballers should be able to adapt but I don't want to rock the boat too much.

Get someone in who fits the squad and the way they play, please.
