Leadership is an outmoded capitalist construct, as is the notion of contest. At the end of the class struggle a natural leadership by committee will emerge and issue instructions based on sound Marxist/Leninist ideas.

Lisa Nandy impresses me. Especially after she passed with honours a 15 minute grilling by the rottweiler Andrew Neil recently. She is the most likely to appeal to the 'man in the street' as she doesn't procrastinate or waffle. Long Bailey and Newberry will antagonise one wing or the other of the Labour voters and Starmer will just bore the pants off everyone. But he will win.

Labour need a leader who recognises that policies popular with the membership, doesn't get you elected - Labour need policies that are popular with the electorate.

I'm sure that many leadership candidates recognize that but getting those that control the Labour Party to also recognize it is a different matter

Emily Thornberry is out of the race and back to eating 4,000 calories a day while lecturing the people who used to vote for labour they’re wrong. There’s one pie she’ll never eat, and I don’t mean another woman’s.
