Yes, the nearer of the two was Clyne, but the other I'm pretty sure was Eze who had just come on, and as another poster has remarked, Eze did his thing whereby he jogs alongside but never is in position to be physically involved; the wrong substitution at the wrong time. Crosses have cost us previously, and to see the way the Chelsea player had all the time in the world without being challenged is particularly frustrating. Eze came on at 85 mins, on 86 mins Mateo Kovacic brought him down after Eze had beaten him, why don't we all look at how Chelsea treated our players during the entire game ..it took Christian Pulisic just two minutes to drag Olise down after he'd left him for dead ..if he'd not cheated then he was off running through the middle as Eze would've been, meanwhile the ref just awarded us another free kick which allowed Chelsea the time to organise themselves, nothing was ever said to these players throughout the game as they all took the piss out of our team and us watching...and all we can talk and write about is the fact that Eze was involved in the only goal of the game.

For once I predicted the actual score correctly ! Positives could be found from the performance but I really couldn't see us scoring. Very galling to concede a goal in the dying embers of the game and my face must have been a picture of misery.I admit to using a word relating to parts of a man's anatomy - roughly spherical and there are two of them. Eze just jogged over towards Alonso, Clyne stood off, Alonso was able to take 2 touches after receiving the ball and he was under no pressure when he crossed the ball. Then of course poor defending from Mitchell at the back post.

Our style of play today was really impressive. Loved the movement up front between Zaha Olise Ayew and Schlupp. So good having MacArthur back firing on all four and Kouyate so strong. This could develop into a dynamic system. However, it didn’t yield any goals. Maybe they will come. We certainly matched the world champions right up until the end with impressive play.

Olise found so much space today and used it majestically. Best player on the pitch. The top European clubs must be watching him. If he keeps growing like he did today, who knows what the future holds.

Really unlucky to lose today. Must have said that at least half a dozen times this season. That’s what we need to be working on. Yet again left Selhurst feeling uplifted about our style and future but disappointed that we got nothing for it. Keep at it Palace It’s coming.
