Exactly, must be bloody frustrating for him playing in this team. We could and should have had such a better season. Who knows if that would had made a difference. Also if Richarlison is went 50m we are going to want £60+ surely

Definitely.

Look at average to good players like Richarlison and Sigurdsson who have gone for crazy money, he's much better than them.
Drinkndrive went for 35m and doesn't even play for Chelski.

Just had a thought:
I can't imagine the sell on for united being 40%, but I imagine it's not insignificant, maybe 15? What if it's a player swap?
Like RLC and Moses from Chelski for Zaha?
Do united get feck all?

No, assume we would then pay them a cash fee based on the free market valuation of the incoming players involved.

Doubt a player swap is actually a real thing , I reckon the sales would be as normal, both clubs agreeing a fee for each player and going through the formalities, it’s just a simplistic way of reporting it and a bargaining technique for both clubs.
Otherwise sell on clauses wouldn’t always be worth anything

Yeah, makes sense.

Couple of technical points though:

A player is an asset with a book value, so any sell on clause could be calculated from that.
Would player swaps be more tax efficient? Or would HMRC take their pound of flesh based on valuation as above?

I'd love to know the technicalities of it all

I reckon each transaction would be calculated in its own right.
If your a carpenter and I’m a roofer, and I need a load of woodwork done and you need a new roof. HMRC would expect the 2 jobs to be done on their own basis and tax paid separately, of course this wouldn’t happen as my roofing ability would be far superior to your carpentry, so you’d still owe me money

He did go on to say "i'll just see what the future holds for me really" after saying his future was at Palace. Which did open the statement to speculation.

The interview is still on sky sports app.

I don't want Zaha to leave but I can't blame him he is a class act and coming to his peak. It most be frustrating to be in a relegation dog fight each season when he could be competing for trophies.

It doesn't look like the club matches his ambitions which is OK we are little Palace and I don't want us to go bankrupt chasing the dream. We have been down that road before.

PSG may do us a favour if they bid. I think Zaha would do well at Arsenal or Spurs but neither will pay the money unless they have to so if nothing else hopefully PSG will drive the price up.

I don’t pay much attention to what footballers say, but more on what they do. Compare what he said a couple of weeks ago to now. Complete u turn, so why bother reading every comment they ever make?

A shrewd comment Rudi

He might be at peak age but not peak match performances. Before this season he has been verging on sensational but this season not. He’ll probably or possibly regain that form with a different manager, wherever that may be, but not with a keep it tight at 0-0 and maybe luck a goal under Roy Hodgson. Never going to happen. He’s having the drive, flair and desire sapped out of him under Roy so I don’t blame him for wanting to leave. Who’s best to rebuild afterwards I don’t know but 4-5 identical midfielders every game playing behind a striker we don’t play to concerns me.
