Meet Our New Manager (LOCKED)

It doesn't have to be that complicated. If the identified manager says yes get him to sign a contract with a commencement date e.g June. If he's not prepared to do this without proper reason (e.g existing contractual arrangements) you have to question his commitment and move on to other options. Wolves have lined up a replacement for Nuno whom is due to be announced this week. This hasn't happened out of the blue as there has been succession planning once it was evident that Nuno was on his way. For managers in employment such as Dyche or Cooper compensation would obviously have to be agreed with his employer but Lampard, Howe and Nuno are currently without clubs. The problem now is we seem to be drifting and any appointment could be seen as second choice.

We need the proverbial kick up the backside. Red and Blue Army!

We are still without a manager and have a large number of players out of contract in the next few weeks. It would surely be foolhardy to be complacent about this. Townsend stated a week or so ago that the club had told the out of contract players thwt they would be notified of the club's intentions once a new manager was appointed. A few days later Benteke signed a new contract in the absence of a new manager,contrary to the approach outlined by Townsend. If the club has a master plan it's very well hidden. We are still without a manager and have a large number of players out of contract in the next few weeks.

Hard to see this in any way other than `the one that got away`. So close and yet so typically Palace. If it was due to him not being allowed to bring his own backroom team then I'm afraid the joke is on us. It's modern football these days managers get very little loyalty if things go badly and so cannot afford to `train` or convince existing backroom staff into how they like to work. It's about time we put our big boy pants on and acted like a proper Premier League club. There is no Loyalty in football Sadly whoever is appointed now will feel like a damp squib.

If it was due to him not being allowed to bring his own backroom team then I'm afraid the joke is on us. It's modern football these days managers get very little loyalty if things go badly and so cannot afford to `train` or convince existing backroom staff into how they like to work. It's about time we put our big boy pants on and acted like a proper Premier League club. There is no Loyalty in football

Sadly whoever is appointed now will feel like a damp squib.

If it is Cooper, are we going to be a situation where Dougie recruits the players and Cooper just manages/coaches the players ? This was the issue we had with Hodgson, where clearly he didn't want players like Meteta or Camarrasa. You do wonder if this was one of the issues with Nuno, because he (and Mendes) would have wanted to control recruitment. Things really don't look good at all for next season at this moment.

This was the issue we had with Hodgson, where clearly he didn't want players like Meteta or Camarrasa.

You do wonder if this was one of the issues with Nuno, because he (and Mendes) would have wanted to control recruitment.

Things really don't look good at all for next season at this moment.

If it's true that he was due to sign and if it's true that it's collapsed at the eleventh hour then I would hazard a guess that Everton or someone else has panicked and made him an offer. Personally I think he is by far the best candidate of those supposedly in the running - organises defences well and likes wide players who take players on, which is basically the one thing we have always loved. It seems to be well-known that Nuno has a large entourage, so unless he's added a butcher, a baker, and a candlestick maker at the last minute then I can't believe that would be an issue now if it wasn't one when we made our move (if indeed we did). Personally I think he is by far the best candidate of those supposedly in the running - organises defences well and likes wide players who take players on, which is basically the one thing we have always loved. If this has fallen through I wonder if Parish will be looking elsewhere outside of the bookies favourites.
