I've just read a quote from CB that he's determined to remain at CPFC for the final year of his contract and repay us with goals because, in his words: "I don't want to leave like a thief." What nonsense. What he really means is that he's determined to run down the final year so he can shop himself as a free transfer as early as January. His agent will tell prospective clubs: "Look. You're getting a £30m player here on a free, just bung him a £15m signing-bonus and you'll have a half-price bargain. Four league goals in his last two seasons! Is CB the worst pound-for-pound signing in the history of CPFC?

I'd accept his statement as genuine, not only because what you assume makes no sense at all. He's not a 30m forward as he's not scoring goals, so it's hardly a selling point is it? More likely, his motivation is to bag 15 goals this season and give himself options next year + a hefty sign on fee which he won't get with his goal scoring record as it stands. Also, it's not as if he's a lazy b****** is it? He runs about doing what is asked of him which most of the time doesn't suit his strengths without complaint and is happy to do all the PR and commercial promotions for the club. I remember Kuqi who was much worse throwing his toys out for a lot less, going on loan and bagging goals. Then in his last year he ended up top scorer and turning down a contract as he was a self serving arse hole. Give him 10 crosses a game to get on the end of and then judge him when he shanks them all. Not when he's either deployed on the bench or being asked to receive ball to feet outside the box or work the channels.

Have a look at some footage of him when he was at Villa, you would not believe it was the same player... Edited by Gary St.Andrews (09 Jun 2019 8.07pm)

He’s a thief if he stays. He’s about as muddled as he is on the pitch.
