Plus a driving box to box midfielder like the much missed Gallagher

We have Hughes, Schlupp, Alhamada, Phillips, for one place, alongside Doucoure and Eze, as DANGERCLOSE said, in order of priority 1 Striker, 2 Right Back, 3 Left Back, if Wilf goes a replacement will be needed.

Even with the change of personel there is no way we should be losing that game .
Wolves couldn't believe their luck in being gifted the opener and set their game up from that point onward to not concede . We obliged in not threatening the goal with any real intent bar a couple of efforts fro Eze.
Conceding early really did for us ,with their noses in front Wolves could sit back and well , that was that .

The Johnston error was IMO because we were chasing the game moving into added time ,I think he just boots that clear if we didn't need to retain possesion . I hope nobody was too hard on him ,he looked destroyedes II

One we just have to take on the chin , we were not good enough in creating anything worthwhile and as mention a trillion times over the past few years ...We still need a Striker.

Yes I agree but we also need to decide how we set up the attack, will Wilf start next season or indeed will he be with us next season. If we play with Wilf up top (Better than on the left) then I would be happy but would Wilfbe.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

My personal priority would be:

1. Striker
2. Right back
3. Winger

I think even with Wilf there our options beyond him and Olise are Ayew or Eze, neither of whom are really wingers so we need a back up there. I can't imagine it's too hard to find one for a decent price.

We've needed a RB forever so that should be prioritised and whilst I quite like them both personally as opposed to in a footballing context, Edouard and Mateta are both 'nearly' strikers for me. Perhaps handy to have in the squad but not good enough to bee seen as your first choice forward. In an homage to you Lanzo here's my much wanted XI

Johnstone

New
Andersen
Guehi
Mitchell will do but wouldn't argue with new/better

Doucoure
Take your pick.
Eze

Olise
New
Wilf/New

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Just about spot on, i think Gallagher wouldn't compliment Eze at all, it would leave Doucoure knackered every game. so now the task of finding some, the stiker being the hardest to find.

Last nights games was always going to be difficult for us once we gifted that goal early on through a defensive error, from that point on we were chasing the game. Generally, I thought we played very well and our passing in midfield was much better. However, we are still far to slow at getting the ball forward thus allowing the opposition to set players up behind the ball. In the final third, the lack of a good striker and players who can get in the box and get on to the end of taps in’s needs solving. Why our current so called strikers attack crosses at the near post is a mystery to me as the far post is mostly less defended and would present greater opportunities. Overall we did deserve at least a point but sadly, it did not happen on this occasion!

Agree there.

I want Eze to occupy that spot ahead of the midfield, behind the striker so Gallagher would firstly be rivalling him for that space but also I think he is the kind of player you want in a much weaker team. This team already, and if improvements are added will, look to dominate the ball. Gallagher is useful where you see far less of it and have to chase down/pressure the opposition for it. Hence why I think Chelsea can't quite exploit the best out of him. If funds and ambitions were larger than I expect them to be, I'd love a real all round midfielder with Doucoure, similar to him, so a partner in crime and not the oft' called for 'holding' midfielder.

We've got a decent spine to the team in my estimations, GK, CBs, Midfield, with one good winger. A striker to head that up and some improvements on the flanks would make us contenders for more than just comfortably surviving relegation, which I am confident we will (eventually) do this season. We'll see I guess.

We dont need Gallagher, he is vastly overrated on here. He started off well for us, but after Christmas he was running around like a headless chicken as was generally poor. Not worth the money Chelsea would be asking.

I think it was more of a case that he was changed from an attacking midfielder to a deeper midfielder to accommodate the return of Eze. He has shown that he is not that versatile, but put him in the right place and he's great, especially for a club our size. When I've seen Chelsea he's been playing pretty deep for them too. When they give him more freedom he looks a threat. Anyway, bigger clubs than us will be sniffing around and I can't see us paying the money Chelsea would want.

I am on holiday in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote and watched the match in an Irish bar. Unfortunately they were also showing the Villa match on my left and the Leeds match on my right both with the volume up yet the Palace match was silent.

It's really difficult to concentrate on a game with no sound when the sound from two other matches is blaring away

Should have gone to Lanzo’s house to watch it.

Wow. Gallagher, player of the year last season, is now written off as someone who perhaps isn't all that, couldn't play in the same team as Eze or Doucoure blah blah. Fickle.
Reality = Gallagher being key to our performances in a tricky transitional period between Hodgson's side and Vieira's. Looks like the club wanted to sign him permanently but couldn't match Chelsea's valuation, and splashed out extravagantly on Ahamada and got Lokongo in on loan. Great work.
