Plus a driving box to box midfielder like the much missed Gallagher

Why would Chelsea sell one of their best players.?

He is currently doing for them what he did for us and look at their results under Lampard. Played 5 lost 5.

No, we have moved on and I don't see Gallagher enhancing our future. But anyway I very much doubt he will be for sale in the summer.

Is Edouard Benteke in disguise?

Those calling for Mateta, I have a feeling Roy decided he wasn't good enough in his last stint. The fact he's barely playing suggests his mind hasn't changed.

Can you blame Roy? I think we all know that. He's just not good enough or consistent enough. He produces the odd flash of magic which is maybe why he gets the odd show..

Im hoping we revert to the team at Leeds for West Ham game.

If Wilf is fit then drop Edouard.

Maybe Richards will have to play in place of Andersen. Ayew looks far better out left and Schlupp looks better for having Ayew in front of him. Zaha at centre forward makes sense if fit otherwise I’d give Mateta a go over Edouard.

As long as we can copy the 2nd half performance against Wolves, Roy can put out whatever team he finds suitable. Fully agree with the gaffer, we were playing some really good stuff at Molineux. With someone else on top than Edouard Benteke we would probably have scored at least one goal.

Wow. Gallagher, player of the year last season, is now written off as someone who perhaps isn't all that, couldn't play in the same team as Eze or Doucoure blah blah. Fickle.
Reality = Gallagher being key to our performances in a tricky transitional period between Hodgson's side and Vieira's. Looks like the club wanted to sign him permanently but couldn't match Chelsea's valuation, and splashed out extravagantly on Ahamada and got Lokongo in on loan. Great work.

Really? He cost us a quarter or even a fifth of what Gallagher would cost. That's hardly splashing out extravagantly.

We have Hughes, Schlupp, Alhamada, Phillips, for one place, alongside Doucoure and Eze, as DANGERCLOSE said, in order of priority 1 Striker, 2 Right Back, 3 Left Back, if Wilf goes a replacement will be needed.

Damp squib of a game for us. Appreciate that the turnaround from the Everton game was short but too chop up the midfield and go to a very defensive midfield line up seemed a bit unnecessary. We weren't playing Citeh away. Also possibly highlighted the lack of energy within the squad. Not sure what has happened to Ahamada. Not even given a bench place when much of the midfield is shuffled ? Positives were we had a better go the second half. Let's hope for a better performance early on Saturday against the Spammers. COYP !!

Whatever anyone feels about the changes Hodgson made in the mid field, we had almost complete control in that area of the game, in particular in the second half.
As ever the problem was cracking a penalty area always full of opposition players blocking with little ambition other than that.
If Leeds had done as Wolves did we probably would have struggled there too, as we are talented but just to light weight when it comes to forcing issues when sides defend in depth. It’s not often the Palace mid field dominates in the way it did Tuesday, it was the reason we should never have lost the game, let’s hope it performs as well against WH.

I can’t wholly agree with that, we got slaughtered in the midfield first 20 minutes with players chasing shadows (I think I’m right in saying as well that Lokonga didn’t make one tackle and was rightly substituted off). Tightened up towards the end of the half and dominated the second half but the damage was already done and they had fashioned a goal out of nothing and a few other chances during those early exchanges.

I think Hughes could play in a three with Schlupp and Doucoure but it didn’t work with Milivojevic and Lokonga.
