Suggesting we only have 6 or 7 Prem quality players is hyperbolic.

Everton's bench yesterday was: Pickford, Patterson, Keane, Gomes Betuncal, Andre Gomes, Godfrey, Ramalho, Hunt, Dobbin.

Bournemouth's bench when they humped us was: Mepham, Brooks, Rothwell, Ouattara, Tavernier, Moore, Kilkenny, Billing, Travers

The same night our bench was: Tomkins, Franca, Mateta, Clyne, Hughes, Ebiowei, Ahamada, Riedewald, Matthews

The gulf in quality between those benches and ours is really not that drastic.

Then please tell me who do you think is EPL quality my list is:-
Doucoure,Johnson,Henderson,Anderson,Guehi,Lerma,Eze and Olise. That makes eight if you count the two GK's and these are certainly the players that could be sold to top the table clubs in elite football. The rest are Championship quality at best and would be hard to sell on to another EPL club, including Mitchell who has been very disappointing and has been living up to expectation for sometime now.

You do realise Tyrick is the only player to start every game for us this season . . . [Link]

I would include Richards, (a quality centre half) and Ayew (hard worker and reliable) in the list, both would be considered by at least half of the PL as good squad players.

However we already know we need a right back, a left back, a left winger and an alternative at striker (preferably a quick goal poacher), so you could argue we are 3 or 4 players short of being a decent team, however our problem is we have known this for about 2 and a half years but done nothing about it.

We only have one left back, which is likely to be the main reason. He is ok, but adds little to our attack. As poor as PVA was at defending at times, I preferred him to Mitchell. Just my opinion mind.

Because there is no competition for that position, I think he has played 19/20 for the record as he had one match suspension for two yellows!

I can see why the referee in 'Real time' never deemed the incident a foul, but I can also see why the VAR intervened and sent him to the monitor.

I agree Willo , it looks like nothing in real time but slowed down looks like a potential leg breaker . Studs were up , over the top of the ball and made contact high on Clynes leg , OK no malice was intended but that like saying after doing an over head kick , sorry i didnt know his head was going to be there .

You’re being hyperbolic again - surely the definition of a player of PL quality is not whether they could be sold to an elite club - that definition excludes more than half of the players currently playing in the league, which doesn’t make any sense. How many of the Everton or Bournemouth squads I shared would meet that definition? Probably less than us!

To suggest players like Mitchell, Ayew and Richards aren’t PL quality is silly. I’d also include Mateta, Edouard and Hughes.

Ward, Clyne, Tomkins and Schlupp are all at the wrong end of their careers but all have hundreds of appearances at this level. The rest are kids we are seeking to develop to this level, as is normal.

Like I said initially, there are some big holes in this squad and the recruitment has not been good enough, but it’s still nowhere near as bad as people like to suggest - it stands up in comparison to pretty much everyone in the bottom half, and arguably our best 5 or 6 players are as good as anyone’s outside the top clubs.

I think you've perhaps forgotten what PVA was like in the end. He was literally unable to defend. Mitchell is a better player but needs competition and, dare I say it, better coaching. If we could get an experienced left back in then Mitchell could possibly learn a lot. Possibly.

If Calvert Lewin foul and red card had been Mateta, I would have been hopping wild.

If they have really said that, then they are wrong because Everton have a PL home game against Villa on Sunday 14th. It's more likely a case of a night in the week beginning Monday 15th. Bear in mind we have the 12.30 slot on 20th at the Emirates. I suspect Wednesday 17th will be the most likely date.

Now confirmed for Wednesday 17th at 7:45pm.

I will refrain from watching it if it is on the television.
I really have no desire to subject myself to yet another drab and uninspired performance, causing a look of instant gaseous nausea to fall on my face.

That is the Arsenal game up the spout. Hodgson will need to put out a weak side and forget about the 4th round.
Idiocy last night not to go for it - bad management yet again!
