George Alagyah's brave fight against bowel cancer ended RIP. He covered the Rwanda genocide and much more and had charm and empathy. Makes you grateful if you can get though unscathed, 67 is hardly old.

a post-retirement age, terminally ill, ex employee died ? surely that is a bigger story than Ukraine or an imminent World Recession.

i will be notifying them that Bert, the old geezer in Accounts, from my employer , is also feeling poorly. Considering Bert is a straight white Christian man.....i will be expecting wall-to-wall media coverage.

If it isn't old then why are people getting pensions instead of working?

Personally I think it's old.....I don't want them raising that pension age even further.

Inspiring others in their own fights is an honourable thing and for it to be reported widely is responsible and helpful. He always seemed a warm and likeable guy. Anyone in the public eye dying early after a struggle with cancer who has said wise words during the fight is an inspiration to others.

Inspiring others in their own fights is an honourable thing and for it to be reported widely is responsible and helpful.

Yup. I know that years ago 67 was ancient but I like you feel after 50 years work the last years are deserved. Putting plenty in should merit getting something back.

A labourer doesn’t have to do heavy work. They will have acquired knowledge that they can pass on or take on lighter roles. They don't tend to employ many in an advisory capacity.
