Edited by Stirlingsays (23 Apr 2017 11.46am) Doesn't mean a person HAS to be a xenophobe..just that regrettably many in this day and age are..

The same type of people pushing for Eid to be recognised as a public holiday (they've already introduced a Islamic day here to placate the left) bend themselves out of shape to call it what it is St George's Day irrespective of whether you celebrate it or not.

Who said being proud of your country or celebrating a national day HAD to involve being xenophobic? Not me. I just said that in England nowadays IMHO in many (not all by far) cases its does.. Australia (in my experience) is a good example of a place where generally people have passion for their country without xenophobia creeping in..

I would imagine most countries would exhibit this trait? Including many Involved in yesterday's march along Madison Avenue celebrating Punjabi Day. So to single out the English is being IMO disingenuous ..
