I guess that you have to take the "West Brom turned down Schurrle", with the same gravitas as "Schurrle offered to Palace".

Can't believe he's still only 27. This is exactly the sort of signing we should be looking at - proven quality, not going to break the bank, an upgrade on Townsend which means we then have him as cover on the wings, and can also play as a striker.

This would be a fantastic piece of business.

I remember we came close to doing the deal in January, but I read that we left him waiting at the important at the last minute.

As some people have said already, this is exactly who we should look to sign. International quality, Premier League experience, shouldn't break the bank and young enough to have a resale value if we were to go down.

On the basis that RLC isn't coming back and we look to keep our options open in terms of team shape, this puts Townsend in the void the RLC leaves behind and Wilf partnering Schurrle upfront.

I really hope this one happens loan or permanent...

This. First rumour this year of an attacking player that makes sense and hits that niche of big name but not so out of reach like many crazy suggestions that have been on here of recent.

This would be a massive signing for us, and I agree it is not out of the question. We would need to move fast as I am sure other clubs like West ham and Everton will come sniffing.

Whilst initially hearing in January, I was very excited at the prospect. And again this time very excited. Having said that, after a bit more digging it would seem that Dortmund fans have been far from impressed with his contribution for them. And actually say he’s not even half the player he once was.

So whilst I’d still be all for it at the right price. Maybe not the dead cert to be great it would seem at first viewing.

Lot of talk currently as Dortmund just said he is being released to negotiate with another club. However it looks to me like putting 2 and 2 together to assume this must be Palace as there is a lot of chatter about Dortmund being in for Zaha. Its all chatter really isnt it. However, he is a bit of a gamble despite the pedigree.
