‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ performed by Mel Smith and Kim Wilde aka ‘Mel and Kim’. An excruciating travesty that gets ‘fast-forwarded’ every Christmas morning on our drive to see the folks. Mrs YT and I have often bemoaned how this song always clings to its position in all the ‘Greatest Christmas Album in the World’-type compilations whereas classics get dropped eg the proper Wham! version of ‘Last Christmas’ and ‘When a Child is Born’ by Johnny Mathis. Last Christmas was replaced for many years by a dreadful instrumental version (presumably due to copyright issues), although I’m told that the original has now found its way back in to some compilations. For those who don’t know the old chestnut, this is the only song to sell 2 million copies without making it to number 1.

Another horror that we always fast-forward: ‘The 12 Days if Christmas’ by The Spinners. Check it out. It’s fvcking awful!

Any Christmas song by Cliff. I can't stand Last Christmas either. Sentimental slush when Georgy boy was pretending to be straight. Should be more like 'Last Christmas I gave you my @rse'

Chris Rea appears to be driving an old clapped-out Nissan Micra on a road with some spectacular traffic jam. jona lomu, 'stop the cavalry' is about as depressing as a terminal diagnosis from Croydon STD clinic. Edited by PalazioVecchio (23 Dec 2018 3.36pm)
