I don't have much time for horror movies these days and I find the torture p*** variety offensive. Of more recent films, I'd say The Ring was noteworthy but cheap jumps don't make a good film.

I watched a couple of the Saw movies, but I'm with you on this. The push to gross people out more and more often comes at the expense of any semblance of plot.
