That brought back memories that I'd long forgotten about. I used to go to school in Kingston and often caught the trolleybus from New Malden to Kingston Croydon swapped trams for trolley buses thinking them more practical. They then found the pantographs kept jumping off the lines and eventually gave up with them. Now we are back to trams, sadly all the old tracks were ripped up long ago so it was much harder than it could have been to get them back in place.

Electric cars are a big con. Highly unsustainable. Expensive and a nightmare to dispose of or sell on. Another environmental disaster waiting to happen.Like the move to Diesel. I always find it funny, that people will put up with an inferior product if they think it's cool. Tesla and Beats Audio are prime examples.

I should like to see some science on relative environmental effects. I am told good EVs are great to drive. The new 60+ KWh cars start to look pretty practical.

Until they have one with the range of a diesel car there is no way I could get one. I'm not sure how much they cost to run in comparison to gas cars, but you can only claim 4p per mile for business in comparison to 45p/40p for gas. That doesn't sound to me like it would cover the cost.

The infrastructure will come quickly now the cars are improving. In any case town dwellers can use their domestic supply. They just need access to an ICE car if doing longer runs.
