Wilf was pretty much injury free up until last season. They got him on a free, what do these pricks want, compensation!

Yes they’ve woken up with egg on their face. Sadly for Wilf this probably won’t end well. Some might argue it didn’t start well.
I know he divides opinion but I’d be happy to see him back, on the right terms, certainly not those reported pre departure. He’d have a point to prove, which could work to our advantage. Relatively speaking he could be a cheap option. All of course subject to a medical performed by a fresh set of eyes.

It just goes to show how much of a bad deal it would have been if we would have offered him ( allegedly) 200k per week and a 3 year contract to stay with us . In Steve we trust . Or as Sarf would say Parish fan boy .

Quite a few people commented last season that he perhaps came back too soon from injuries, but you always got the feeling Zaha was behind this, not the other way round. He may have divided opinion at times but one thing you could never question was his desire to be on the pitch playing.

One thing that this does relate to with our current squad though is Mitchell. He hasn't had any proper cover since PvA left and at times he looked like he needed a rest last season but didn't get one as there was no other option. I do think that was a mistake not getting in another left back, as Roy is unlikely to play Clyne or Ward there unless pushed.

There is probably some truth in it.

Wilf has played a lot of football over the last decade, and until recently hardly ever injured. he also gets kicked around a lot.

And when he is injured he's always back quick, straight into the first 11. Never really reintroduced slowly.

But hey, they got a player probably worth 30/40 mill for free. So calm down and wait

He is dangerous and scores goals. How can you lose if he only gets paid for appearances?

He wouldn't be the first.

It would really depend on how his body is holding up to playing every week this season.

Chill out. It was just a thought.

Who are the others on a pay per game basis in the Premier League.

Im very chilled out thanks for the advice . I cant think of one player on a pay as you play contract , could you imaagine giving it , as someone in the past suggested to poor old Nathan Ferguson , the poor chap would starve . I think we dodged a bullet with Wilf to tell the truth , sentiments aside .

Interesting!

I have seen the 'pay as you play' contract mentioned numerous times over the years but genuinely questioned as to whether this is a 'thing'?

I certainly couldn't recall being aware of it's existence.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
