And as it went unchecked it went from "stop <insert marginalised group here> coming into our country and taking our jobs" to evermore extreme language, and then, in the end, extreme action. We're just at the top of that slippery slope and if we don't challenge the extremist language being used by the government then we may find ourselves going down that slope. I literally wrote a 5000 word paper on "The Concept of the Political" by Carl Schmitt last year, while he wasn't upon publication he was later an unrepentant nazi and his book was essentially the blueprint for what the Tories are doing now.
