You are ignoring fundamental and agreed differences between the religions of the Bible and the Qur'an.

The bible tradition is for interpretation.....the old testament is more violent than the Qur'an but there are reasons that Jews aren't regularly blowing themselves up.....interpretation and context is apart of their tradition.

Fundamentalists in either Christian or Jewish traditions are small in number and even they can not be realistically compared to Islamic fundamentalists by anyone making a point that can be taken seriously.

This does not deflect from the overriding reality that all religions are an issue at some level or other....but we are talking about violence from religion here.

Islam dictates......and there is no getting away from this....it states that the Qur'an is the 'literal' word of God itself and cannot be changed. This is on a different level....this isn't a sect believing this like in Biblical traditions....this is the main doctrines. Hence this gives power to all the violent bits.....It's a real problem....listen to the reformers on it.

There is a reason that the vast number of terrorist attacks carried out around the world comes from this religion and anyone obfuscating on why this happens deserves criticism for it.

The real reason that we don't have more terrorism is that most people don't take their religion piously.....but if you are Islamic and pious and follow certain socially conservative doctrines.....you are a problem to a secular state.

Socially conservative Islam in the west requires reform.

Do you like Islam? I think Islam is full of bad ideas and I certainly dislike it. I don't approve of other religions either but I'm ok with 'live and let live' people.

The Koran was written by Mohammed when the whole religion was on a war footing.
That's why it's so violent in its preachings.
It needs re writing to suit the present day peace.
Or there needs to be high level instruction not to follow it literally.
As posted before it is the interpretation which is the issue more than what is written.
Although it is only 1500 years old so maybe in 500 years it will be read properly like we have with the Bible.
