Have to disagree with a lot of the Sorloth haters on here. He clearly has the ability and has started to show glimpses of it in the last two appearances. He worked harder in last nights game than the whole of the season so far (though thats not hard)...but thenas I say year after year after year....we could have God up front, but he simply wouldnt get the service!! Just what service DID HE GET last night?

And it was his run and pass to Zaha which allowed Zaha the space to take on Xhaka and we all know what happened. Sorloth wasn't on for long but what he showed made me think that Hodgson might prefer him up front instead of Ayew. Edited by Willo (01 Nov 2018 1.53pm)

His one big problem is that his positioning is poor. He sometimes ends up on the wing as he goes in search of the ball when he should be in the middle. We either need to play him regularly or loan him out/sell him, as he is not going to get better through cameo appearances. I still think he could grow into a decent player, but he is definitely raw. He needs to learn to use his obvious physical strength the right way (ie not throwing players to the ground!) and to make use of his height better (something it seemed to take Peter Crouch years to develop). If Roy and Ray could get Sako playing as a striker (by shouting at him throughout the game) then maybe they can do the same with someone who is actually a striker. As it stands I prefer him to Ayew, although I can't say I'm ready to start a fan club yet. Ayew just seems to look sulky a lot of the time and lacks the presence of a target man. I noticed Hugill played for Boro last night. Still hasn't scored for them (or West Ham). See, we do dodge some of the bullets!

Our transfer team were probably watching the game thinking they should put in a £15 million bid there

Before he went to W.Ham, there were reports of us being interested in his services and I believe I mentioned on HOL that having watched him a few times I simply didn't rate him at all.W.Ham paid £9 mill for the player whilst Moyes was in charge. Edited by Willo (01 Nov 2018 9.56am) Good point but who is going to take a punt with him after last night ? I'd be tempted to off load him to a Championship side in a deal to take a better striker onto our books. Club of our stature should be able to have a decent go at getting the best talent from the Championship. The real issue with the striker situation is we need somebody to challenge Tekkers, him and Ayew don't look anywhere near to this. Wickham needs to overcome his injuries. Don't know who we were trying to tempt in the last 2 transfer windows but hopefully it was far better than what we got.

Sørloth is rubbish. The scouting team took a gamble and it has t paid off. Strikers who score goals are tough to buy (especially in January) and we put our eggs in this basket. However, there is no money this season so I don’t think he will be going on loan anytime soon. We will have to make do, encourage and see how he gets on.

Why did we by ( buy) him then? Possibly the worst forward player I have ever seen in the last 50 years, that includes Tom Soares. He is a total waste of space, I watched him last night, when the ball was crossed to him, he didn’t even challenge for it. He has no control under pressure at all and is never in the right place to receive the ball. Hand on heart, you really really believe he's worse than Soares, worse than Calvin Andrew, worse than Trevor Aylott, worse than Akinbiyi, worse than that bambi we got from Arsenal whose name escapes me, worse than Adebayor?

For his Danish club he scored 10 goals in 19 league appearances and 4 goals in 6 appearances in Europe.
