It's going to be interesting.

Did you actually watch Geoffrey Cox, or just read the twitter post?

I thought he was an embarrassment to himself. He is clearly an educated, decent man who understands and upholds the rule of law. However, he was working to a prepared position that I am sure we will hear time and again in the coming weeks. "This Parliament is dead. It opposes the will of the people". I am pretty sure, from his body language, that he doesn't believe it, and that he doesn't think it to be a wise strategy.

His "attacks" were all theoretical soundbites designed for 10 second news clips and Daily Mail headlines. He lost all credibility in my eyes.

This idea that this the government is trying, against all the "establishment" forces assembled against them, which now includes the Supreme Court, to do the will of the people is disingenuous, irresponsible and dangerous. It needs to be called out for the sham it is. Parliament is just trying to do it's job, nothing more or less, and it was the government action which was trying to stop them. Action that has now been determined by a unanimous verdict of the highest court to be unlawful. There's the shame. Where is the apology? Doubling down is Trumpian tactics. Do we really want to accept that?

I am thoroughly ashamed that a government formed in the name of a great party that I once respected, has sunk to such a low point.

I still hope that those behind the scenes who manage the Tory party and it's finances will pull the rug from under these tactics before any more harm is done.

Parliament is not a Court and nor is the Privy Council. Parliament makes the law. The Courts apply the law.

The European Court does not, so far as I am aware, get involved in the national law of any EU member so would not be available in this matter.

I think the buck has stopped unless and until Parliament decides to kick it again.

It is absolutely a court and no recent laws changed that. The Supreme Court of Appeal is basically the Privvy Council with a different name.
The highest court of appeal became the EU court which regularly hears cases from around the EU where people can take cases which can overall national law.

Actually the supreme court perceived that prorogation was to prevent discussion about brexit.
There is nothing that can prove it was to do that.
Maybe another 5 weeks gabbling on about what is and isnt going to happen will wear down the leavers, who knows.
Bottom line the deal or no deal cannot be done outside of Brussels.

I am no constitutional lawyer but I don't think any of that is correct.

The Privy Council advises the Queen. It has no other role. The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council is a separate body which is the court of final appeal for certain overseas territories. It's members are generally the same as the Supreme Court.

Parliament itself stopped being a Court when the Supreme Court took over as the highest court.

The European Court does not involve itself in matters of domestic law only.

No it didn't. It went out of it's way to distance itself from any specific political issue.

It's finding was solely on the question of whether the length of the prorogation was appropriate to the time needed to present Queen's speech and the impact of such a period on the ability of Parliament to do it's job of oversight and enquiry.

That others seek to muddy the water and present an alternative motivation should be viewed as the political shenanigans that are becoming depressingly familiar from this government.

Really??? As someone who insists on evidence from others you can impute opinion and intention from body language?
Isn’t it possible that as the government’s top legal adviser he was simply embarrassed at getting things wrong?

So what was Johnson 'guilty ' of then.
Proroging parliament is a right beheld of the acting PM.

You're perceiving someone else's hard on?

Sounds like a mutant superpower to me.

Perhaps you should get a role in the next X-Men movie.
