They will come back to X if the consumers do. Right now Musk is alienating the consumers. Being personally an extreme freedom of speech advocate might win you friends who admire the likes of Alec Jones but it’s going to make a lot more enemies. I stopped using Twitter as soon as he bought it. I think it’s finished as a major platform and will be relegated to the margins. No Uni supports terrorism. They do though criticise Israel. So do I and a lot of other people. I think it’s quite disgraceful to see the way that anti Zionist sentiment is conflated by some in the USA with anti-semitism when they are totally different. Pressurising Unis over funding because you are a Zionist would encourage me to look for alternative funding. It leaves a bad taste.

I suspect that the new Chairman has decided that GL is not a hill worth dying on. I read the responses given by Shah to questions thrown at him. This wasn’t a prepared statement. His remarks were about the criticism of Shapps and were suggesting that the guidelines need clarification. No big deal.

Like I said some people end up being more trouble than they are worth so at some point it doesn't matter if they have or haven't broken the rules. I really do think Lineker is walking a tightrope and thumbing his nose at the BBC. If you are going to pick a fight with the government then that is for the senior management, politically it is like a junior minister creating a major scandal for the Prime Minster over an issue he wants to avoid.

Because footballers of the time hadn't had any media training each team had a celebrity guest to help them along, in this case Jimmy Young and Ted Moult.

Well done the BBC, again. I think the last time I saw this show David Vine or Coleman was the Chairman. My guess is that they decided to change the format because the numbers were going down. In hindsight I think it was a mistake to broaden the show to include non sports people. My guess is that it then just became yet another celebrity show full of mates and friends of the BBC. There are plenty of those shows around on all channels so QOS lost it's unique appeal. That said it had a good run and for a change the BBC has simply cancelled a show due to poor viewing figures. This is standard in the industry with the exception being the Beeb where it always seems to be a major issue. Perhaps this is the new reality shows that are a success will live whilst those that are not will die the same the rest of the world over.

Asking about the first man to get pregnant, first woman to beat Mike Tyson and the effect of Climate change on the rainbow flags of Brighton. So many questions on the Atlantic Slave Trade. Edited by Stirlingsays (16 Dec 2023 12.46pm) I think viewing figures went down during this time more because of the viewing time than anything else and whilst I agree she was not Coleman or Vine, she remained streets ahead of the more recent attempt and was accordingly more successful in attracting viewers. With the right people this could still be a successful programme, but the BBC appear incapable of sticking with a formula that works as they don’t tick enough of their boxes.
