Arise Sir Gary, highest paid BBC 'contractor' and political commentator.

And the BBC have relinquished control of World News, such as casualties in Ukraine, the Yemen conflict, Arms sold to Saudi Arabia, land grabbed and Palestinians killed by Israel. And any political 'stuff' in the UK.

Let's see how Gary and his new contract are doing,...

We now live in a brave new world where celebrities such as Lineker and his buddies are more powerful than the BBC. Better get used to it.

Where the hell do these people sit/stand at Selhurst? Or do they never go and slate everyone from their high horses in Dulwich and Truro?

Exactly. I wouldn’t miss him. Provides one smug joke at the start and the rest is forgettable. If it wasn’t for the fact they can only show x minutes of highlights so take the option of showing more minutes (of the same clips?) they wouldn’t spend so much time talking and using the same superlatives every time.

So considering that Mark Chapman and all the paid pundits walked out in solidarity must mean they are all left wing Marxists as well? I would be interested to hear from the anti Lineker brigade what right wing football pundits they would like to see presenting MOTD.

Ron Atkinson and Jimmy Hill. John Terry as guest.

Exactly the point.

Many well known people express their opinions on Twitter. People can read, or ignore. That's their choice. It would be a restriction of free speech if only the unknown could express themselves.

You can ignore Lineker, just as you can ignore anyone on Twitter or here.

You are not that stupid to understand the focus is on those paid by a state broadcaster and effectively taxpayers. Therefore join an independent if you have a social media addiction

At least now Gary can freely call Israel's treatment of Palestine the Anschluss and can liken Thatcher in the Falklands to the Sudetenland.
