This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle If Arsenal are willing to stump up the valuation then let's talk about it. Until then this is a non story in my opinion. An initial bid of £40m????.. Do me a favour. Problem Arsenal have is they don't have the money. They aren't getting Champions league football and they are also in danger of dropping out of the 'top 4' cluster of clubs... Well they have already dropped out of it if you ask me. If Wilf wants to get the hump then that's tough. He needs to remember he has a price and £40m certainly isn't it. Edited by kennybrowns leftfoot (03 Jul 2019 11.06pm)
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

Ian Wright told the South China Morning Post : "We’re trying to get Wilfried Zaha, which would be magnificent. You want competition for places. Defensively, I think everyone can agree, we need some strength in there” who does Wright mean by “we”. If it hadn’t been for Palace he would have been a Sunday league player at Dulwich. He needs to learn to keep his mouth shut and respect the club that gave him is big break. I don't think anyone bought his Mr CPFC act when we got promoted. Bloke is a snake.

Right now, Arsenal are offering 40m. A derisory knockdown offer. When Arsenal offer 80m, maybe there is a conversation to be had. Right now we have a team too reliant on one player, as you suggest, but I would be very reluctant to sell him until we have guaranteed replacements lined up or purchased that are of a high enough standard. Problem is, if your expectation of a replacement is another player of Zaha's standard...it doesn't exist. If Zaha is good enough to play for a top 6 side and go for £80m, then we need to sign a £80m player who is good enough to play for the top 6. Why would that player go to Palace? I'd imagine we'd be competing with Chelsea and United for starters. I don't think we'd even get anywhere near a Ryan Fraser type. Realistically we'd have to be looking at a Reiss Nelson type, a player who has the potential but isn't there yet. On him, sure, he wants to stay at Arsenal. Will he want to when (and in this scenario they have) sign Zaha and he's now one more player down the list which also includes Aubameyang, Lacazette, Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi....? It's a question we'd need to ask. Otherwise, you take a player in their prime who isn't as good, but upgrade a couple of other positions while you're at it. That means you're probably looking at a Perez, Redmond, Antonio, Iwobi... with maybe a Batshuayi and take a punt on the next Maddison. Ideally, yeah Zaha does stay. But if he we get the bid and he's otherwise going to kick the toys out the pram and play like crap, unfortunately we've put a lot of eggs in his basket the last few years and as you say, we can't afford for him to not perform. In that case, we have to get that impact elsewhere.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle I have to say Arsenal are completely mental. Why they would focus all their attention on Zaha when they clearly need virtually a new back four and have the likes of Mkhi, Auba, Laca, Ozil, Iwobi and players like Nketiah, John-Jules and Nelson coming through. Even if they bought Zaha, with that midfield and defence, I can only see them drifting further behind the top 4. Them buying Zaha would be like us going out and spending £40m on another holding midfielder or centre back when we clearly need someone who can put the ball in the back of the net. Oh wait we're linked with Seri... Edited by JohnB (04 Jul 2019 7.48am)

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle Let us remember when we sell Wilfried Zaha 25% will go to Manchester United so a sales price of £80m will be net £60m to Palace (less any agents cut). Lets hope the Gunners have the money and are not firing blanks.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle Sadly I can only see this ending one way now. It's all very well saying the player should stay and honour his contract but the reality is that it becomes unsettling for the rest of the squad knowing that Zaha is there against his will. We can't and shouldn't offer him another pay rise to stay and in any case it's apparently not all about the money. And the special relationship that I thought and hoped was there between Wilf and the fans, for me anyway, is tarnished and won't ever be the same. So let's just try to screw every last pound out of Arsenal, who as I suspected, have a little more than £45m as their summer budget.

Another post straight from the football manager 2019 game handbook. I've only got £20, so should they take that for him? He's worth at least £60million, if they've not got it tough s***.
