Wilf is far from stupid. He knows what he is worth in today's market and that we won't sell him for less. I don't doubt that he would like to test himself in the Champions League but he also seems reluctant to move away from London again. So this all seems like an attempt to draw out interest from Spurs to me. Arsenal don't have either the money or the CL position and Chelsea still cannot buy, unless they find some creative way around their ban. Spurs seem to suddenly be splashing some cash and moving players out so it's just possible I suppose. According to Sky (I know), Arsenal have quite a bit more to play with than they initially let on. It was lowball and pathetic, yes. But as I said in the above post - I think 60mil & a very promising English youngster could actually work for all sides.

Sadly I can only see this ending one way now. It's all very well saying the player should stay and honour his contract but the reality is that it becomes unsettling for the rest of the squad knowing that Zaha is there against his will. We can't and shouldn't offer him another pay rise to stay and in any case it's apparently not all about the money. And the special relationship that I thought and hoped was there between Wilf and the fans, for me anyway, is tarnished and won't ever be the same. So let's just try to screw every last pound out of Arsenal, who as I suspected, have a little more than £45m as their summer budget. I think that is such a ridiculous thing to say. He could've demanded out a long time ago. He's spent the best years of his career at this club. He's not a relegation/mid-table level player & we all know it. He hasn't damaged anything by wanting to play for a bigger club. How can we claim we adore this guy as much as we do but want to see him play at a level below his worth.

Anyone hear Ian Holloway on talksport this morning saying no disrespect Palace fans but time Wilf left and goes to Arsenal blah blah blah, went on for around 10 minutes. Felt like chucking the radio out the window. I make Ollie right. He's at his peak so now's the time to cash in.

Probably because it would mean rehousing all of his scrounging family too

Wilf does deserve to play on the big stage, but his brother coming out and asking us to let Wilf leave for the Arsenal and Arsenal coming in with a derisory £40 million bid has left a bitter taste in people's mouths.

His brother isn't Wilf. But his brother is right. We're such an easily offended bunch sometimes. He wants to play for a bigger club. There is no way we should be standing in his way.

Im fuming at his brother and Arsenal for their conduct in this and let it spill over to the player. Saying that, when Wilf left before I certainly wanted him to be successful and play at the highest level. When that didn’t work out we took him back and played a big part as a club to get him to where he is today. This time it feels different

How do we ever get any bigger then? If we have anyone good enough for a 'bigger' side they have to be let go? In that sense, fighting relegation and eventual relegation awaits. We will never win anything.

We will never win anything. By investing our money wisely in young players & utilising our academy. That's how teams of our stature progress. Not by hopelessly relying on one, albeit very gifted, player. 110m in the bank is a foundation to grow from. Undoubtedly.

Pay up what he is worth and as somebody mentioned cash+ Reese Nelson would be a terrific piece of business.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Zaha wants out' by Midlands Eagle Wilf wants to play for Arsenal who only have £40m to spend. We want £80m, bit of a non story. I’d be a lot more interested in knowing how we are getting on with finding a striker.
