This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. | |

| As inevitable as it is depressing. A Question though; Is Rice undroppable (the player, not the foodstuff)? he's as culpable as the next man for Englands midfield malaise.. and is regularily spouted as being the DM in many pundits 'solutions'. a Midfield duo of Wharton and Mainoo could be one that sees us through the next 10 years. maybe not enough experience to start them together.. yet,

| In fairness to Gallagher, he'll give his all - which is more than can be said of some. He'll press on his own if he has to - which means he'll press on his own.

| it looks like Gallagher is replacing Trent - all a bit stodgy, me thinks it's one tournament too far for Southgate, bit like Sven in 2006, hope I'm wrong.

But GS wont share that view. If I'm honest he's weaknesses have been exposed because of a lack of midfield partner. He was so effective playing as an 8 for Arsenal, but to do so he needs a 6 (Wharton) sitting in behind. Connor, wont help because he cant sit, and has no positional sense. Rice will end up playing a bit of a hybrid 6/8. Connor will get a yellow, and wont be available for the next round

| Marvellous Modric denied in the last moments. Now 38 may be the last we see of him, what a star he has been.

| GS is lucky again, already through to the last 16 the match only really matters to Slovenia. Expect another weak showing. GS IS USELESS when will it sink in?
