Hardly surprising. Airbus have a huge investment here and so long as a tariff free deal remains on the table they won't be pulling the plug.

Let's wait until the end of 2020 before making any kind of definitive judgement.

My daughter works for a Space technology company recently acquired by Airbus, believe me, business is booming and they ain't going anywhere...sorry

Face to face discussions are always different. I once had a fierce online battle with an American over gun controls. Then we happened to meet and after a while realised who our online personas were. We explained our life stories and why we held our views. He was an ex cop whose partner died in his arms after a shooting. He shot the assailant dead. We both ended up in tears and as best mates.

Jane is a nice lady. You might also be a nice guy away from the keyboard.

Wissie the keyboard warrior!!

Soft and hard brexit is made up rubbish by the remainers. Brexit is leaving the EU if a deals reached fine if it's not it's no deal wto!!

What do you class as a soft brexit?

That kind of reasoning is exactly why we are in the mess we are in. It's naive in it's simplicity. It's like thinking you can walk away from a marriage and decide for yourself that the house, everything in it and the bank accounts are all yours.

How we leave makes a huge difference to how we organise our future. Staying close to the EU by negotiating a mutually favourable new trading arrangement would produce the kind of compromise needed to satisfy everyone. We could end up with a kind of associate membership which retains those things that are good for us, whilst dropping the things that the Eurosceptics always felt uncomfortable about. Most of us accepted that reform is needed within the EU and that might be the way to achieve it.

A hard Brexit, without a deal, sets us up as a competitor to the EU. They would deny us the use of their standards trademarks, withdraw cooperation on many things and generally become more aggressive in the way they treat us. For instance France would probably stop assisting us in trying to stop illegals and reverse their attitude by assisting them to come here, or at least rid themselves of the problem by not standing in their way. We would be alone, forced into the hands of Trump's USA who have no interest in helping us at all. They see us as an opportunity.

What happens this year is much more important than what happens on Jan 31st.

If the EU had listened to Cameron and helped with a few requests we wouldn't have had a referendum.

Millions see Johnson as fit to be PM hence why he is.

You dont know if it is a mistake, you are guessing it again.

Common sense has triumphed by following through with a winners requests.

Oh that the EU now regret their miscalculation is undoubtedly true, just as Cameron regrets his.

However, you don't punish a whole country because others made mistakes. You correct those mistakes. It's the jobs of the politicians to find ways to do so.

Millions think that capital punishment is a good idea. Doesn't mean it is though does it?

It is just me that thinks it is a mistake! It's the overwhelming opinion of all those with the experience and professional knowledge who are in a position to evaluate these things objectively and not emotionally. They aren't guessing. They are doing their jobs.

Deciding our national future on the basis of emotion is not wise.

Surely a South London football clubs forum isnt the ideal place to campaign for your views on Brexit? Why dont you try a political forum where your views may be appreciated?? I realise you post ad infinitum on here in order to be seen as 'superior' but jeez its boring.

It's far from ideal but the views here need to be countered wherever they surface. I do use political forums, both those which take the same kind of line as me, of which there are many, and particularly in the recent past on left wing forums which are trying to ensure that the Labour Party stays on the same track as Corbyn. I have though given that up as a lost cause. The Labour Party are a fast fading star who will never again be a force in the UK.

I am sure that's how it's received by many here. I see myself as determined, resilient and confident in my own approach. There is though at least one other poster to whom the term is even more apposite.

And again "punish a whole country"
Your pessimism is undoubtadly the worst of anyone on here or the planet.
The ability to compromise is what makes a good leader.
Johnson clearly can so let's watch him make brexit a success.
Then wissie you can eat a large slice of that lovely pie !

Did you tell her you think all leavers are racist, apart from her.
She would be thrilled at your double standards I'm sure.

That's the way of the world these days isn't it?

Not all the time though. I do try to attend and participate in good debates and, of course, have many other things to do. Like taking my wife shopping before the game this PM. Bye!
