Probably a good time to remind people that the club have a terrible record with marquee signing. Benteke, Kuqi, Akinbuyi, Ishmael, Brolin, Gabbiadini. Don't fret too much.

Cabaye, Zaha, Van Aanholt, Shclupp, Martyn, Armstrong, Lombardo. Not too bad in my opinion, some work some don't. Anyway no way we are signing Sarr, spin by Parish, to get more members to sign up.

I guess the international break has put Dougies frantic activity on hold. Still we signed an injured right back, a Chelski loanee that Roy doesn’t start and the only saving grace Eze until his forward play is coached out of him and Roy has another defensive midfielder.

Circumstances were favourable to us for the Cabaye, Zaha, and PVA transfer. None of which broke the bank. Schlupp? Really? Armstrong? Didn't break the bank, had a fantastic season in a ridiculous strong team in Division 1. All he did in the Premiership was coke. True about Lombardo. Good as Lombardo was, we finishsd rock bottom that season before going into administration. So the only marquee signing mentioned that was successful and where the club didn't go bust was Martyn.

Any news at all?? I've nothing against him but he wasn't right and seems to have withdrawn. He may have knowledge but things change anyway. No certainties in football, particularly this season.

I’ve resigned myself to the likelihood that we won’t be bringing in anyone. I Just think so many of the rumours have turned out to be bulls**t - not sure why I attach any credence to news reports that outside of the “window” i ordinarily disregard! I think we will be a striker and creative Mid light - another season hoping there are 3 worse teams come the end of the season!

Batshyai, Benteke, Wikcham, Ayew, Zaha ( now playing striker)....that's a lot of strikers. Agree about creative midfielders though. Although with Eze a nailed on started once he's up to speed and the talented Meyer and Riederwald still with plenty to offer, I don't think we're particularly weak there now.
