I do hope we get a further statement from the board today or tomorrow. Right now, we look like an absolute laughing stock, and it ought to be made clear why the sacking occurred so soon.

True, but getting upset about things where we don't know the ins and outs is also a bit hit and miss.

We appointed a manager who was seen as a devdecent appointment. We didn't back him. We sack him and replace him with one well past his sell by date who may well do a Sam, sell us and leave. The board chatter on about building a legacy and we are seemingly incapable of building a team let alone a legacy.

Yep, s*** happens......When we are talking about the amount of money that relegation from the Premiership would bring.....those individuals who back the club with millions get to decide.

Who cares, next week they will be onto something else.

There has been so much bile toward Parish that I can't be doing with reading this thread in its entirety.

Steve Parish has made many strategic errors during his tenure, but none of us know if this was one of them. History will be the judge, not the apoplectic masses* of now.

However, it does LOOK questionable as would be any recruitment of Hodgson. Part of the reason is because so many of Parish's decisions/ actions looked questionable in isolation, when made:

--letting Dougie go when he'd really got us going (at last)
--keeping Holloway as our PL coach after promotion (harsh but I'd have sacked him)
--letting Pulis go
--naming Warnock
--keeping Pardew longer than almost anyone thought sensible
--letting Allardyce**, go
--recruiting a manager and retaining him for 4 games, the last of which we played fairly brilliantly

No doubt Parish can give a smart narrative for each individual one. And perhaps we Boer should have been fired, but when you combine all these, such a narrative loses a great deal of credibility.

That said, none of us would be anywhere near as good at the job as Parish. For every failing he has come up trumps. I doubt most of us are even capable of sorting ourselves out with proper pensions. So those throwing stones so violently would do well to keep a little more perspective.

For me, the bigger failing was not hiring a proper sporting director years ago and charging him or her with youth, scouting and managerial talent identification.

Right now, it looks like a throw of the dice for Hodgson. If THAT fails, then we will be left with a soured legacy and nothing to show for a handful of up and down years in the PL.

Let's hope he gets lucky again and, in the meantime, learns from his mistakes.

For the record, my only question is about Hodgson's age. the narrative he was terrible for England is one I disagree with. time will tell if he has the requisite energy and passion.

I thought Nick was younger, I now don't know why I thought that.

It was funny though, Just Nick smiling away and then.. Cut off before anything could get going.

One thing is for sure, he's a fully paid up Palace supporter. That "interview" was typical Palace.

All these so called experts sticking their oar in about being disgracefull us sacking fdb, if he had gone say 10 games and was a runaway success, how long do you think he would have stayed with us, if some big club came knocking, 5 bloody minutes, our chairman is man enough to conclude that he has made a mistake, and sorted it, we move on, the king is dead long live the king

Now I have calmed down a bit at the end of the day, who knows what has been going on behind the scenes these past few weeks. So many conficting stories and opinions. I guess that a lot will come out over the next few weeks.

I will just go back to my optimistic self and try and enjoy the ride.
